Hi Marja,
I think I must push your behavours to the max! as I have found a small glitch in NN6.

I have posted a sample link:

www.lbfarchitects.co.uk/base-template.htm

what happens is that on resizing in NN6 on the pc (i don't know about the mac) the scroll bar appears as the bottom justified parts are pushed off the bottom of the page slightly. This only happens in NN6 as I have tested it in NN4.7 on the mac/pc and IE5+ on both mac/pc and they work perfect <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hi Ben,

I think you're talking about what happens when a horizontal scrollbar appears?
If so, then please check this FAQ: www.dmxzone.com/ShowDetail.asp?NewsId=4606

After looking again at the issue I think that it might be a bug? as I compared the new page to that of the old code from PLP1.2 and it did not have the same issue.

Well you can see the results for yourself as I have posted the two versions for you to compare.

this is v1.3 and has the resize error in NN6
www.lbfarchitects.co.uk/base-template.htm

and this is v1.2 which is almost identical and works fine in NN6?
www.lbfarchitects.co.uk/default2.htm

if you have time please can you see if you have the same situation?

Thanks

I've checked both URLs in both Netscape 6.2.3 and Netscape 7.0 (on PC), but I don't see much difference between the two: the little black guy almost loses his feet in both versions in both browsers when the horizontal scrollbar appears.

Sorry was a bit unclear. I was testing on Netscape7 on the PC and what seems to be happening is that in the v1.2 demo, if I resize the window by, lets say 2cm then the scrollbar inwards does not appear b/c there is no overlap. But in v1.3 when I resize the screen by the same 2cm the scroll bar appears and when I drag the scrollbar down it starts moving down the screen for as long as I drag it <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> the issue with this is that NN7 now creates some kind of loop that takes over my whole processor by 94% until XP crashes completely... this has happened now both times I have tested it.

Ben,

The 1.0.2 PLP code is exactly the same as the 1.0.3 code except for a specific NN4 only test, so the difference between the behavior of those 2 pages in Netscape 7 must be caused by something else.

Because the HTML source of those 2 pages is different the only way to prove that would be to use the 2 versions of the extension on identical copies of the page, so that the HTML source is exactly the same.

As for the issue that you can keep scrolling down: that is only the case when you have the horizontal scrollbar. Because the persistent layer is then partly out of sight in Netscape 6+, the browser thinks that the page is actually longer than it is.
And it stays that way, because every time you scroll down the persistent layer moves down as well, thus causing the page to "lengthen" again.

Hope this helps.
