Have managed finally to get the smart image proccessor working, but have come up with yet another problem. The destination image folder that i want the resized image to upload to is /htdocs/images/links/ and the image upload page is in htdocs/admin/. The problem is that the upload and resize does not like uploading to a file outside the upload page folder. i.e. htdocs/admin/../image/links/ does not work, but if it was to point to htdocs/admin/images/links then it works fine. The problem with that is tht all the pages point to the default image folder in htdocs, and therfore this is where all resized images need to go.

has anyone had a similar problem? can anyone help

Try use ../../ instead of ../ and chmod 0777 directory with images.
Good luck.
