I downloaded and installed the plugin. Then in Dreamweaver, I went to Commands | Generate Google Site Map. Then the dialog box comes up with two empty fields: the "Site URL" (with an already there) and the "Home Page". I put the site URL in the first field and in the second field, I browsed to the local copy of the home page file on my hard drive. I then saw the file "index.html" in the second field and figured it's all ready to go. I hit the "Generate" button and the Dreamweaver stopped working for several minutes. I had to force-quit Dreamweaver to get it back. How long does it usually take the plug in to generate a Google Sitemap of a small site (up to 10 pages)? How about a medium site (10-100 pages) ? How about a large site (100+ pages) ? I have one of each I need to create sitemaps for, and I am wondering if this is the sort of thing I should start when I leave work at the end of the day.
Thank you very much,
Tim Wayne

I am also having trouble with generating a site map. I have downloaded the new version..twice and I am still locking up (freezing up). I have gone back and made sure that I have relatant linking but my little hour glass flashes like it's doing something & the light on my computer also flashes but nothing happens. I have waited as long as 15 or 20 minutes...How long does this process take??? Also, I did try just putting in the name the name of the page, in this case, Default but I did not add the htm to it and itdid generated a site map but appeared to just make it for that particular page. I just need to help & direction

I have tried the plug-in on three sites now and have determined:
1. The time it takes for the plugin to generate the site map depends on the number of files.
2. There is an exponential increase in time as the number of files goes up (a 5 page site took 2 seconds, a 70 page site took 10 minutes, and for my 500 page site, I started the process when I left work at night and it was done when I got to the office the next morning).

so it could be that it's working but being that my sites average between 200 & 400 pages with lots of images just takes longer than the time I have given it. I will try again tonight & check it in the morning & see what I get. I guess I was getting impatient but...when I would try to click on cancel or just try clicking on anything it would say not responding so, is that just because Iinterupted the process it was working on?

It seems that the site map generator takes over Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver can't do anything else while it's running. I can't even minimize/hide it. That's why I waited until the end of the day to start the process, when I was sure I was done with work for the day.
I want to create a sitemap once a week. I don't know if this all-night process is going to work in the long term for me. I may have to find another solution for creating Google Sitemaps.

Good to see you are using the sitemap generator on such big sites!
It is indeed a heavy process if you have 400+ html files to index!
You should generate such index indeed just once a month.
it must be a timesaver then - imaging entering all those links by hand <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
