Problems with Absolute Path

When I first set up the new Active Slide Show it works fine. However, because of the way my CMS is built, I must address the SWF with an absolute path. When I set the absolute path the the XML file it still works, but as soon as I change the movie path to an absolute path "/ClientData/1234/PageDesigns/slideshowpro.swf"

Do you have any ideas why this isn't working?

Does anyone have some advice on this? So far, I cannot get this flash to work properly on my site. The previous version worked fine. Thanks!

Hi Phil,

Sorry for the delay.

weird - so both paths absolut isn't working?
could you try to put a relative path as xml - based on your current page?

Do you have a live sample?

Greetings,
george

Hey, here's a link: ablaze.inspirlink.com/

If you look to the bottom right, there should be a flash animation under the "Leading Benefactors". Maybe I'm just missing something in the code? I'm stuck. Thanks.

Hi Phil,

I don't think your problem is with the absolute paths - as the movie loads and plays fine first time.

I think it is related to another problem. It is IE only and the movie does not play sometimes when the page is called back from cache or with back button.

In other browsers the movies plays always.

We are still investigation the issue to see what is causing it.

Greetings and happy holidays,
George

*** Update***
I was doing something wrong. I started over with a new slide show and all is working good.

I'm having the same "play once" issue. I don't know if it's the absolute path or what it is. I've used both relative and absolute with the same results. I have I.E. 6 set to not cache web pages. I'm on a Windows 2003 server with IIS 6.

After looking at it, I'm wondering if you can have more than one slide show per site. Does the swf file that is generated work for multiple XML files or can there be only one? Also, if I have image URLs within a filtered recordset, is it possible to use that as the image URL?

It looks like it will be great when we figure out some of these questions.

Hi Doug,

Yes you can have as many slideshows per page and site as you wish. Each slideshow has its own xml file so as long as the slideshow name is all different (that is also the name of the xml file) then you are ok.

Btw we are still investigating the "play once" bug in IE.

Greetings,
George
