Hi

I'm now getting an annoying message that appears when I slide my mouse over a slideshow. It says 'click to activate and use this control' and the whole movie highlights.

I understand this is related to a very recent IE update.

Can this be fixed within Active Slideshow Pro or can we be advised of another solution.

David

Hi David,

You can try this patch in order to get rid of that behavior:

support.microsoft.com/kb/917425/en

The reason behind is the Eolas/Microsoft Patent Decision.

Hi

This patch will fix the problems for users who install it on their version of IE. However, the majority of users are unlikely to be aware of the Eolas case and will just think my site is screwed.

Is their any fix I can apply to my site, rather than relying on a user to install it on their computer?

Thanks

David

The only solution to this problem is not to use the OBJECT tag but generate it by using javascript.

There is a good javascript library to create the flash object called FlashObject

see related discussion: blog.deconcept.com/2005/12/15/internet-explorer-eolas-changes-and-the-flash-plugin/

as well the library home page blog.deconcept.com/flashobject/

<b>WARNING:</b> However as you will be replacing the object tag then the Slideshow can <b>not be edable</b> in Dreamweaver any more as the standard Active Slideshow Pro property inspector is looking for an object tag.

We are researching this and probably will soon incorporate the code for the FlashObject as well so that it works in the Active Slideshow Pro as well.

This will have another advantages like being also fully XHTML compatible as the object tag isn't compatible at all.

Greetings,
George

HI George

I think I'll leave it as it is for now. Looking forward to when you release the next version. It will be cool if you can get it to validate.

Incidentally i sent you an email asking for the business2_border.fla file, but I haven't received a response yet.

I'm trying to open the version stored on my computer in Flash and I get an unexpected file format error.

All the other fla's open up fine. It's this one I really like and would like to adapt. I'm using Flash MX 2004 version 7.

Could you send a working version to my email please ?<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks
