I have just purchased the CSS Image Gallery software and am going through the (EXCELLENT!) manual.

It states in several places that the image resizing is done by Fireworks. I understand from your sales materials that Dreamweaver rather than Fireworks now does the re-sizing. (I do have Fireworks CS3 in any event.)

Can you advise whether any steps in the manual should be modified to reflect this change in how the software works? Is there anything in that regard that we need to know to make this latest version operate properly?

Thank you, Klaus

Hi Klaus, thank you for the nice reply. As you can read on page 3, the extension can use Dreamweaver for the Resizing. You can select this option by choosing Dreamweaver in the image Processor menu. However you can still use Fireworks if you like.

Hi Frank,

Actually, the Manual I downloaded from the site yesterday did not have that instruction nor did the screen cap on page 6 show the "image processor" option (I see it when I open the software, which I had not previously done.)

For those of us who have Fireworks as well as Dreamweaver, would you suggest one option over the other. If it matters, I try to keep the size of my images on sites down and to that end I have in the past used Photoshop to prepare all images. Would either Fireworks or Dreamweaver do a better job in that regard (with the setting at "JPEG-BETTER QUALITY" or is there any other reason to prefer one over the other. I do have the feeling, judging how slowly Fireworks usually loads and works that it might be faster to rezise using Dreamweaver, but that is just a guess.

Also, I wrote to sales last night asking the question as to how to enable the Automatic Thumbnail popup, which is one of the key reasons I bought the software. (see url: www.dmxzone.com/ShowDetail.asp?NewsId=13985, specifically the following:
Create cool pure CSS galleries and slideshows with CSS Image Gallery having fluent navigation and image transitions. Due to its CSS nature it is fully customizable and fits in any site design. You can even create a fancy slideshow with automatic thumbnail popup navigation.

I have not yet heard back,

This appears to be a great product and I am looking forward to using it.

Thank you, Klaus

Although the images resized with Dreamweaver look great, note that DW is not a imaging processing program. So for the best results you should choose to use Fireworks.

No matter of the resize tool you choose (Dreamweaver or Fireworks), next to the images being resized, there is also always a thumbnail generated from the resized image. So you don't have to switch this on - thumbnails are always generated.

Hi George,

Thank you for that. I will plan to "check" Fireworks for the sizing when dealing with large images.

As for the thumbnails, are you saying that they will always be popups? In other words, will there always be a popup when the main image is clicked on, as in your "party" demo? I was under the impression that this could be set on or off (such as in the "clocks" demo) depending upon the needs of the site. But, if that is not the case, that is not bad either.

This seems to be a fine product, the first of from DMXZone for me. I fully intend, now that I am seeing the quality, to purchase more!

Thank you,

Klaus

Oh no - the popup image functionality is just an extra we build in recently and you need Advanced Layer Popup (www.dmxzone.com/go?12769) for the cool inline popups. Norally you can put only a link on the main image.

Maybe what you need is the " inside" thumbnails option. Then the whole thumbnail band is only shown when you hover over the image.
Check the " space" demo.

Hi George,

My client definitely wants what is show in the "party" demo. I am disappointed as the text on the site said that ability was included (see the thread below.)

Can you possibly offer me a reduced price for my purchasing the advanced layer popup?

Thank you, Klaus
