Hi,
I'm new to this forum, but this one caught my attention because I really need a review or any suggestions regarding my site:

www.bhgardeners.co.uk

Any comments would be readily appreciated.

Hi Michael
looks like a nice site, what I say is personal preferences <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

your banner is a little difficult to read, the ornamentation on the text coupled with the background colour makes it hard to read. I'd consider whether Times is the best font too.

The overall appearence is a little crowded, the scrolling box of products could fill more of the homepage and the logos under it could be spaced out a little more, generally smaller too.

As I say - personal prefs, I like sans serif faces for headings, large and uncluttered, plus getting the message across fast so it jumps off the page, you get only a few seconds when someone arrives on the page before they hit somewhere else

The vavigation is all woring smoothly, and the product images are uniform and look good.

Red is an interesting choice for a gardening site. All I can think of is that a lot of tools are red, but the red on the site is pretty overbearing, forexample if you open products them manufacturers drop-down menus, you have a lot of red on the page which comes across as harsh. Also as the above comment stated, the red-orange combo in the banner is hard to read. Since playing with a color-change is so easy, I'd try to get a few other color schemes going and then see which one you like best from a few variations.

one othe comment, the testimonial qoute might go better in the sidebar.

Thanks, yes, I'm not that keen on the colors myself, but I designed the site for my fathers business and, for some unknown reason he put red and yellow sign writing on all his vans. So it's really just sticking to a theme but I agree that it could do with toning down a little (or a lot) certainly.
