I have seen this effect on multiple sites recently. I have always wondered how to achieve this design. I realize the site itself is built with flash, but the images are what i am looking for. The most recent site i am referring to is www.trans-siberianexpress.com/
Can anyone show me a good tutorial on creating the rough paper image?

What are you trying to do? Do you want a vector version of the paper,
or do you want a photo-realistic effect?

In order to get the "distressed" effect of torn paper like the one on the
website you mentioned, I would do it by hand with a real piece of paper,
and then scan that. Tear it, burn it, crumple it, whatever.
The results will be far more real-looking than trying to do it using
FW's drawing tools.

that's a good suggestion - you could also do a google image search and see if you can turn something up on one of the free image sites. That could form a starting point.
