I installed 1.0.5 as a replacement to 1.0.4 in Dw MX 2004, restarted Dw and get "Dreamweaver MX 2004 has stopped working". Used extension mgr to turn of f 1.0.5 and Dw starts and runs OK. Uninstalled 1.0.5 completely, stopped Dw, started Dw, did new install of 1.0.5, restarted Dw and get same problem. Removed 1.0.5, installed 1.0.4, went through authentication and Dw starts and runs fine.

Hi Graig,

Well the new 1.0.5 should work in DW MX 2004, not very fast and perfect but it should... What OS version do you have?

Also I would recommend switching to at least DW8 or DW CS3+ is even better.
Then you will get the new super fast image resizer that we deliver with the latest version.

DW MX 2004 is really old (5+ years) and we are slowly dropping the support for it - Adobe did that long time ago.

Greetings,
George

Thanks for the speedy reply, George.

OS is 32-bit Windows Vista Ultimate.

I agree with you about the desirability of upgrading Dw. It's a matter of $$$.

Hi Graig,

Could you redownload and install the extension again - I think we have fixed the problem.
it is still the same version but we have updated it with a small fix.

George

George,

Thanks for the speedy service but I'm afraid it still fails in the same way. Here's what I did:
Downloaded the new version
Opened the extension manager (EM)
Removed 1.0.4
Installed 1.0.5
Closed the EM
Started DW - failed in the same way as before
Just to be sure, went to your web site and pulled it again
Opened EM
Removed 1.0.5
Installed freshly pulled 1.0.5
Closed EM
Started DW - fails

Hi Graig,

I think there is a problem with your installation. After restarting DW you should get our installation wizard and enter a serial number.

Check this FAQ: www.dmxzone.com/go?4669
and also this one: www.dmxzone.com/go?11713

let me know if it then works

George,

I've gone through the two FAQs and Dw still fails to start. Here's what I did:

FAQ on the non-removed .mno file: name was dmxCSSImgGal10_install.htm.mno, it was still there so I removed it. (Note: on Vista the path is "C:\Users\graig\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\commands\_notes\...", which is slightly different from that shown in the FAQ. But this path matches the one shown in the pop-up window talked about in the other FAQ) After removal, started Dw and it still failed.

FAQ on pop-up window confirming replacement: When I went from 4 to 5, I remember seeing that window and clicking "Yes", not "Yest to ALL", but only got one window. I didn't remember seeing a window like that on the last few installs, which have been reinstalls of 5, but just to be sure, I used the EM to uninstall 1.0.5, then reinstalled it, didn't see such a window, removed the xxx_install.htm.mno file, but Dw still fails to start.

Just for grins, I uninstalled 1.0.5, installed 1.0.4, Dw started OK, registered 1.0.4, restarted Dw just fine. Used the EM to do an overlay install of 1.0.5 and didn't get any replacement option windows. Saw the xxx_instal.htm.mno file in the dir, so removed it. Started Dw and it fails to start. I noticed that after this start attempt, there is a new xxx_install.htm.mno file in that directory. Also in that directory, just fyi, are dmxCSSImgGal.htm.mno and dmxUpdChk.htm.mno
