Mini-review & Competition: Photoshop Without Photographs

Create Works of Art From Scratch

In this workshop, you’ll see how to build every single element in a 1930s image from scratch, from creating the wood texture used for the door to drawing the wallpaper and adding the lighting. This creative challenge will introduce you to new and surprising ways of working in Photoshop.

Overview

About the Workshop:

In Photoshop without Photographs Steve walks you through the process of creating of an image called “The Hallway,” which depicts the scene outside the door of a 1930s private eye, using only Photoshop’s built-in tool set. You’ll begin by drawing a convincing wood texture, use that to create all the woodwork in the hall, then go on to add the door furniture, a frosted glass window, and the crucial lighting effects needed to bring the scene to life. Chapters also include “starting state” files, so you can take the course from start to finish, or jump in along the way.

What You'll Learn:

Creating images entirely in Photoshop is highly instructive, but more than that, it’s great fun. It’s a chance to unleash your creative abilities in full and to see just what you can do with your bare hands. It also teaches techniques of value to every Photoshop artist, enhancing your skill set and helping you learn new ways of working.

The lessons are wrapped in a feature-rich interface that lets you jump to any topic and bookmark individual sections for later review. Full-Screen mode provides a hi-def, immersive experience, and Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window so you can play the videos alongside your application. This course also includes project files so you can follow along and try out new techniques as you learn them.

Competition:

In order to win on of the 3 coupons, which can be used for the Photoshop without Photographs, all you need to do is to answer the following question: How long is the total running time of this workshop?

Send your answer to this e-mail address, before Wednesday the 30th of August 2011.
