Switch Security

Switch Security is a server behavior designed to allow the server to detect whether or not the current browser connection is secure and change the server accordingly.

Overview

Arguments:

New URL - Specifies the url of the server you wish to switch to
Secure Destination - Secure or Unsecure

Example:

You have a checkout screen that you wish to protect with your SSL certificate, but when the page is being built, you don't know what pages will be pointing to it.

1. Apply Switch Security server behavior

2. Enter https://www.yourservername.com in the New URL box

3. Select Secure from the secure destination

4. Click OK

When a browser requests this page, the server will check the connection. If the connection is not secure, it will replace the server name with the one you entered and redirect to that page.

You could also do this the other way around...making sure the connection is NOT secure!

Note: The script only strips off the old domain and replaces it with the new one.

Requirements

Type: Server Behavior
Product: Dreamweaver MX, UltraDev 4
Server Model: ASP JavaScript, ASP VBScript
