I have created a slideshow using Active SlideShow Pro and have the XML file linked to my database where the image paths are stored.

The problem: The slideshow works great on ADSL connections but when testing on dial-up accounts (tried on a number of computers) the slideshow does a mixture of the following:

1. Will not load any images and just fade black or red screens in and out
2. The first 2 images will transition then a black or red screen will fade in and then a picture further on will just appear
3. Same as point 2 but sometimes the first 4 will transition

After much elimination processing I have come to the assumption that it is obviously the conection being slow (dial-up) - you may tell me otherwise but if this is the culprit, can I extend the preloader more than 2 seconds (I noticed in one of your forum messages that you said the preloader waited for first 2 frames (slides)) as the images are all approx. 50kbs once resized so I need to allow for a bit more loading.

My question in summary: If you think it would be something else other than the slow connection, great. Otherwise, can I extend the amount of frames or slides the preloader goes for?

Regards,

Josh.

Hi Josh,

I don't think it is the internet connection but the Flash player.

See the following faq: www.dmxzone.com/go?11500

George:

Have rechacnge all images to 400 pixels wide, each are now about 20-25kbs in size. Also none of the images are progressive JPEGS.

The problem is quiet strange. It seems to work fine on my copmuter 99% of the time, but I've had reports back from other users after posting the site on the net that they just get a red screen and no images.

If you follow this link and then click on one of the house pictures, the player will load up. Can you let me know if it works for you:

Otherwise, do you have any other suggestions?

Josh.
