It would be nice to be able to style the title that appears in the title bar.

Ummm. I don't understand that answer at all. I would suggest though that the extension not over-write files already copied into the site. I edited the ipod style css to get what I wanted and when I applied the behavior in another place, I got the same "Files are being copied into your site" message and my changes were overwritten.

It would be nice if the extension tested for the existance of the file and not over-write it if it is already in the site.

Also, along with GUI to style the title bar (still seems like a good idea to me), a tutorial on how to add styles would be nice.

Hi Neo,

I was saying that bigger font in Tiltle bar may look too heavy. About overwriting - it will overwrite files because of a change in properties.
Maybe it can be optional, but then s.o. can forget to overwrite or not to overwrite files and iit will become too messy. Better is to keep copy of your customised files and upload them after uploading of original files.
Sure it is a good idea to create such tut.

Kind Regards,

Well, not to beat a dead horse, but that is why I suggest making it configurable through the GUI. You could generate an instance-name css file of just what is configurable.

Also, it is overwriting files that I believe I cannot change and so do not change when I add another instance of the behavior (advLayerPopup.js is one of the files that is overwritten every time I apply the behavior and I know that file is not being customized every time I use the behavior). So, if the GUI doesn't allow me to make changes to the title font, at least don't overwrite the choices I make.

It is really up to me whether the font I want in the Title bar is too heavy. Is'nt that what you are striving for? To give the user control that is easy to access?

As far as I can tell, you don't 'customize' dmxpopup.css or any of the style files like the iPod files when I apply the behavior, so if the extension just tested whether those files were already within the site before copying them from the configuration...shared folder into the site, than any customization of those files by the developer would not be overwritten.

Alternatively, how can I clone iPod and make my own style that will appear in the extensions dropdown list?

I'm not trying to argue. I am just suggesting that something along these lines would make it a better extension for me, and I suspect a number of other people as well.

Hi Steven,

You are wrigth. There are files that are overwritten without need, but that's an insurance. I'll speak again with developing team to see
what can be done bout that and I will propose your request of adding custom skins to GUI menu and option to change title font/size (sure it's up to designer to choose his way).

Thank you. I appreciate that.

If the extension draws the style files like the iPod files, by reading a directory list, it may be easy to create a tutorial for making your own template/style with the existing extension. I have not tried yet, but weill soon unless you can confirm how it can/should be done.

Hi Steven,

Here is the way you can create a new style :

I decided to ceate a new 'SimpleRed' style. Got 'SimpleBlue' folder in "..\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9\Configuration\shared\DMXzone\Adv Layer Popup\Styles\" duplicated and renamed to 'SimpleRed'. Then I recreated the bg.jpg and close.gif (without changing their names) to mach the syle name - bg.jpg I gave red look :

dmxzone.com/demo/alp/other/SimpleRedCustomStyle/bg.jpg

and close.gif - blue.

<img src="dmxzone.com/demo/alp/other/SimpleRedCustomStyle/close.gif" border=0>

It is important to know that the new style's folder and css file inside it must be with named identicaly. So i named my css 'SimpleRed'.
In order to have styles inplemeted I renamed the css nodes to mach the style name - ".SimpleBlue h2" become ".SimpleRed h2", and etc.
If I want to add a css style i need to do it like this:
".SimpleRed .mystyle {border: 1px solid red; color: grey} , but the h2 is enought as it it is the only visible element from the Pop-up.
Now you can edit the css properties and have your own style inplemented in the extension.

<img src="dmxzone.com/demo/alp/other/SimpleRedCustomStyle/customStyle.jpg" border=0>

If you like that style you can download it here:
dmxzone.com/demo/alp/other/SimpleRedCustomStyle/SimpleRed.rar
