I received a runaround for 3 weeks of on this question. And the final word from Kurt Lowenko of tech support on this issue was "we suggest you wait until the official release of the product"If I buy a PC VERSION of FlashMX2004 Professional will it include the plug-ins/Encoder for MACINTOSH VERSIONS of the 3rd party editing software (Final Cut Pro, Avid, etc)? AND IF IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THOSE PLUG-INS, how will they be made available?
They SHOULD be included in the packaged software, OR, WORST-CASE made available as downloads for registered owners of the product. Even a small fee for purchase of the plug-ins could be tolerated if the output quality and efficiencies are evident. However, IF MACROMEDIA's ONLY SOLUTION is buying another FULL VERSION of your flashMX2004 Pro just to get those plug-ins, then you are doing a tremendous disservice to your customers and your company and this practice should be agressively denounced in the professional media community.
I would have pre-purchased the Studio MX upgrade with Flash MX Pro 2 days ago if cross-platform versions of these plug ins were clearly part of the package. It is a great thing that Macromedia is reaching out to the broadcast media production industry, but you MUST consider how your products fit into the myriad of existing production environments that you are attempting to embrace. It would be of tremendous advantage from both the Macromedia markting side and a Professional User side (classic win-win) to announce that you can "Edit video anywhere (list platforms and software) and deploy to your flash environment"
So...What is the final word on this?

Well, I have an answer to my first question. I upgraded to studioMX2004 with Flash Pro and installed it on my Windows system where I do my web work. I also installed the .flv output plug-in on my mac where I do my video work so I could output .flv files ready for flash integration. The answer is IT RUNS IN DEMO MODE which puts a big red X on every frame of the resulting output.
Now we have my NEXT question(s) for Macromedia to continue to ignore.
Do you ACTUALLY expect someone in my position to buy 2 versions of your product simply to get a working version of this simple plug in? If you do, you're more unstable than your software. If you don't, what is the plan to allow users like me to actually make a sensible workflow around your product?
If you guys would think about this for a minute you'd see that this plug in should be given away. Making it easier for people to use and integrate your product is a GOOD thing..Try selling your flash player and see how "ubiquitous" it remains.
