Flash XML StudioLab Support
Authors: Ian Tindale | Paul MacDonald | James Rowley
XML is everywhere. It provides a versatile, cross-platform way of describing data. It's the way in which the information of the future will be stored. However, by itself, XML looks dull. It needs dressing up in diamonds and pearls to bring it to life. How can this be done? By using Flash, that's how.
This book is the foundation for mixing motion graphics with business functionality. Running through the book is a comprehensive case study comprising tutorials using real-world examples that place the technology firmly within the context of professional web and multimedia Flash design.
Since web design is becoming more interactive, knowledge of XML is becoming increasingly necessary for creating truly dynamic websites. Without a good knowledge of this essential language the designer cannot fully exploit the capabilities of the dynamic web. As XML is standard format for universal sharing of data, learning it will enable designers to transfer templates and projects between web, mobile, interactive TV, and offweb entertainment platforms.
What this book covers:
This book assumes no prior knowledge of XML, though it is aimed at designers who are familiar with Flash and ActionScript, and covers all the information you'll need to perform the marriage of XML with Flash, such as:
- XML from scratch - all the information you need
- How to incorporate XML content into your Flash applications
- Taking it further - XML as a living, breathing data source
Who is this book for ?
Existing Flash designers who have experience of ActionScript, have heard all about XML, and want to take their skills up to another level:
- A Flash designer looking to make their applications fully capable of presenting information stored as XML
- Previous readers of Foundation Flash 5 or Foundation ActionScript who wish to expand their skillset
- An ActionScripter who wants to make their site fully dynamic
