Animated Thumbnail Gallery and File Genie Folder List
Use File Genie to create a Animated Thumbnail Gallery
Question:
Can I use File Genie to create a Animated Thumbnail Gallery?
Answer:
File Genie can be used to create a Animated Thumbnail Gallery. Using a File Genie Folder List, it is very easy to have the images within a folder, be displayed in a nice animated gallery.
Note: The ASP version of File Genie is used in this FAQ. The PHP version would give the exact same result.
File Genie
Start by creating a File Genie Folder List. Create a new page and save it. From the Server Behaviors panel, select DMXZone, File Genie, Folder List.
Set all the necessary fields to create the Folder List and click OK.
Animated Thumbnail Gallery
The next part is the creation of the Animated Thumbnail Gallery. Put the cursor on another location on the page and start the Animated Thumbnail Gallery from the DMXzone tab on the Objects bar.
Select a style from the Load Preset field or style the gallery in the way necessary on the Style, Geometry and Viewer tabs. Add one random image in the gallery. (This will be changed later on). Click OK to put the Animated Thumbnail Gallery on the page.
Changing Image Settings
The only thing left to do is to have the images come from the File Genie Folder List. Select the only image that was added to the gallery.
In the Properties Inspector click on the Browse for File button behind the Src field and select the Data sources option.
Select the Name value and click OK. Enter values in the Image Tag Accessibility Attributes window if wanted and click OK or click Cancel to leave the fields empty.
From the Properties Inspector click the Browse for File icon behind the Link field. Once again select the Data sources option, select the Name value and click OK.
With the image still selected, select DMXZone, File Genie, Folder List Repeater from the Server Behaviors panel. Make sure the created Folder List is selected, set the Show option to All Records and click OK.
