All-New Adobe Dreamweaver CC

November 3, 2016

Check out what's new and other important notes

The waiting is over, Dreamweaver CC 2017 is here! It was officially announced at the annual Adobe MAX conference yesterday and now you can experience its full powers. Some of you are already aware of the features, as being part of the pre-release program, but for the rest, you can check out the highlights below.

All DMXzone extensions work perfectly fine in this new Dreamweaver release and we continue to update our tools for the dark theme, so you don't have to worry about the compatibility. Just make sure to use the latest DMXzone Extension Manager and restart it after you install Dreamweaver CC 2017 so that this version also appears in the dropdown menu.

The Story

Redesigned Code Editor

Several productivity enhancements have been made to the Code Editor in Dreamweaver to enable you to get on with the task of coding quickly and efficiently.

Code hints help new users learn HTML, CSS, and other web standards, and visual aids like auto-indentation, code coloring, and resizable fonts help reduce errors and make your code easier to read.

CSS pre-processor support

Dreamweaver now supports common CSS pre-processors like Sass, Less, and SCSS, with full code coloring, and compilation, so you can save time and produce cleaner code.

Real-time Preview in browser

Quickly preview your code changes in browser in real time without manually refreshing your browser. Dreamweaver now connects with your browser so changes appear in your browser instantly without page reloads.

Quick editing of related code files (Quick Edit)

To make quick changes to your code, place the cursor on specific code snippets and use the context menu, or press Ctrl-E (on Windows) or Cmd-E (on Mac) to access Quick Edit. Dreamweaver offers context-specific code options and inline tools.

Modern user interface

Dreamweaver is redesigned with a more intuitive and customizable interface, more accessible menus and panels, and a contextual and configurable toolbar that shows you only the tools you need.
The new interface also offers four levels of contrast from light to dark, so it’s easier to read and edit lines of code.

Here you can check out the full list of new features.

Question about what you guys use

November 3, 2016 by Steve Skinner
When it comes to working with a portfolio of sites that are both in PHP and classic ASP, I'd like to know what your recommendations are on the different versions of Dreamweaver that work best for you. I'm currently still running Dreamweaver CC version 13.2 because the later versions didn't allow me to work on older classic ASP sites as well. Is Dreamweaver CC 2017 what you guys are using for work on both PHP and classic ASP sites? If not, then what is the latest version of Dreamweaver that DMXzone prefers for handling work on both of these programming languages? And.... do you guys run more than one version of Dreamweaver on the same system, and if so, do you have any problems with that type of setup?

Hello Steve, You can work on classic ASP sites without any issue in any of the CC releases until now (CC/CC2014/CC2015/CC2017) - all of our ASP based extensions work perfectly there. We always recommend using the latest version of Dreamweaver, as usually the bugs and issues from previous versions are fixed there. We have multiple versions of DW installed on our systems so we can test the extensions in each of them (CS 5.5 / CS6 / CC2015 / CC2017) and there are no issues with that, as each of the versions has its own installation and configuration folders. Now, as the CC2017 is already available, this will become our main tool for our daily work - it appears to be much faster than older versions.

Problem with Extensions in 2017

November 6, 2016 by Brad Haarer
HI. I'm actually having to downgrade back to 2015. In the Data Bindings panel I can't select anything beneath the data binding "folder" and once I expand that folder out the entire Data Bindings panel freezes and I can't select anything in that panel anymore. Have to exit out of Dreamweaver entirely. I've cleared the cache. I've changed the display version from "dark" to "grey". I've removed and reinstalled the extension. And I've confirmed this behaviour on two machines. I'll be repeating this in Support Forum, but I also wanted to post this here. Not happy.

Hello Brad, There are no any known issues with the Data Bindings extension in CC2017. We cannot recreate the issue you are describing. What is your OS and are you sure you have the latest version of HTML5 Data Bindings installed, using the DMXzone Extension Manager?
