Popup Link
Will this extension work with DreamWeaver MX?
This does look neat.
but when the pop p page has a request.servervariable("http_referer") on it, it doesn't work. Does anyone knows how to solve this?
regards
There were no reviews until you posted this comment :-)
And yes, it does work in MX.

Sorry, I don't know a solution.
I guess, as this extension opens a new window, there just is no 'referer'.

I downloaded this extention about 2 months ago or so,and it has become a big part in my web development. I like the simple to use settings. The only problem I have is getting it to work right with a splash site. I have to set it to stay on the onMouse instead of onClick because of the fact that onClick interfers with the onMouse image. Not to big of a deal though. Most of the time I just make only one color of text for the links that have popup activities. But this is by far the best extention I've ever had the privlage to come across.
This is a known Extension Manager bug.
Try installing the extension with DW open and restart DW afterwards.
I LOVE this extension! I do a lot of pages that need to open new windows and have been using several different extensions/scripts to place and size the windows. Then I started needing to move certain windows to the top and more and it all got soft of crazy. I stumbled on this and it is WONDERFUL. I've gone in and replaced literally hundreds of behaviors with this script.
Then with all those done, up jumped the bug. I only post this here, because I am confident a "fix" will be forthcoming.
A strange thing is happening in DW MX. If I apply the Popup Link to a button in my navbar on the template (an uneditable region) and then apply it to content within an editable region, two strange things happen. 1- The script "function MM_preloadImages()" gets moved into the editable region and becomes visible in the page. 2 - Subsequent uses of the script in the editable region are displayed as in the behaviors as "Custom Script" and cannot be edited and do not open a new window.
Now, I spent hours upon hours adding this script to countless links in identical pages and it always worked. BUT, if I try to create a page from a template with this behavior installed, it messes up.
I've recreated several templates and always get the same results. BUT - I am pulling my hair out to make this extension work because I like it so much. I like having my links visible in the status bar instead of "Javascript" or "Null" and I like having the links show up when my site gets spidered. This is just a freakish little nuisance.
Will the Advanced Open Window do all that Popup Link does? I'll pay for it I love it so much - assuming it works.
Stephen, I will look into this template issue.

Using it with MX and MX 2004, very nice extension. I have to admit, all of FlevOOware extensions are of top quality. Keep up the good work.
This turned out to be a bug in Dreamweaver's template handling, and it has been reported to Macromedia.
The problem is not specific to Popup Link: every behavior is at risk, even MM's own standard DW behaviors.
To avoid this issue, do the following:
- make sure the template has an editable region named 'head' in the HEAD section of the page,
- make sure that editable region is located just before the </head> tag,
- move your JS functions to an externally linked JS file, rather than leaving them in the template itself.
Very good but the windows does not render the windows attributes properly and the Close Window link does not appear as it does in the Demo.
Otherwise great!
Hello Marja!
I like this extension very much but I search for a possibility that the open Popup Link always stay on the top. That means if I had click another popup link, the existing popup link disappear and moves under the mainwindow into the program taskbar. I search for a solution that all linked popup links stay over the mainwindow, so that I can move the popup link window and maybe compare the content between the two popup windows.
Maybe you have solution for that.
Best regards
Heinz
No, I'm sorry but I don't have a solution for that.
There is a way to keep a popup window always on top, but that introduces significant issues, because other (popup) windows will more or less become impossible to access.
Works great!
Only thing is that in Dreamweaver 4, it only shows down to the 'dreamweaver 4 attributes' section as far as seeing the first line of ticks, but no further.
Also, is there a way of adding in a 'close window' button or link?
Great job, Marja!
This extension has allowed me to replace several different extensions scripts I was using prior to finding it. The greatest feature is the "Move window to top when re-activated". This will keep a visitor's screen clean of a bunch of pop-ups or from the pop-up getting buried each time they want to view the next record's unique information for a particular field.
Thanks for this handy tool!
