Do images have to be preloaded

Do images have to be preloaded for this to wok correctly.

No, the extension preloads the images. If the next slide image is not fully preloaded yet, then the current slide will just remain longer in view until the next one is loaded.
But do you have the latest version? Because the preloading mechanisme has been enhanced in version 1.0.2.

Slide Show Extension
July 11, 2003 by Jenny Rasmusson
Just wanted to say Thank you!  It took a few minutes and a little testing before it was up and running -- but so nicely put together for slide show.  We did something like this last year for our personal website and it took lots of time what could now be done in just a few minutes.

Love It, Just One Question
July 30, 2003 by Jackie Johnston

Thanks for a wonderful extension! It looks great, I love the fading transitions, and it saved me oodles of time. There's one thing it does on IE 6 for PCs that I don't know if it can be fixed or if I've done something wrong. I've got a slide show that starts playing when the page loads, and I've also put buttons in with stop, forward and reverse behaviors. But when I change directions with the buttons I get a blank loading image (even when all the images are fully-loaded). Is this because of the transitions? Is there anything I can do to fix it? You can see the slide show at:

I can't get the slide show to work. The default base image is not the image I want to use. Can you offer a suggestion?

Hi Jackie,

I looked at your page (nice!) with IE6 on W2K Pro, bur I don't see the problem you describe here.
But maybe if you can give me more details so I can reproduce the problem, I can help you.
Please contact me via email if you would like me to try and help you in any way.

I can't get hit to work!!!!  Can anyone please help?

RE: help!

The page doesn't know which IMG tag to use as the base image for the slideshow.
A quote from your page:
<img src="images/slideshow/JK0001.jpg" width="450" height="300" align="absbottom">

You need to give the IMG tag a unique NAME attribute, in your case 'slides', as this is the name you've used in the Trans Slide Show function calls.

Check you page in code view: there are now 2 IMG tags with the name/id 'slides', but it needs to be unique.

I have a problem
May 28, 2004 by Ian Knight

I have built the slideshow, but I get an error msg in IE. It says 'Stack overflow at line: 0'. What does this mean and how can I solve/fix it?

Any help would be great.

Not working
January 20, 2005 by Richard W

Marja,

I did exactly as the instructions said but it does not seem to be working.  No error messages either.  My webpage is not dynamic just basic HTML.  Does this make a difference?  Thanks.

Contact me via email with an URL for the page that isn't functioning correctly.

Hey Marja,

I got it working.  Apparently and this just may be my program, but it does not like image files that have spaces or dashes in the name.  Example bird-robin.jpg.  So I changed them all to example birdrobin.jpg and it works fine now!  Great program!!  Thanks!

swf files
June 1, 2005 by john buckworthjim

Instead of using jpg, gif, or other images is there a way that I can use flash swf files?? I tried using my flash files but it doesn't work. Other than that the images work well!

If anyone knows ways around this please respond.

Thanks,

John

Works in Netscape, but not IE6?
July 1, 2006 by Walter Mr.
I'm not sure why, but the slideshow works in Netscape, but not in IE6.  In IE6 at the bottom left of the page there is an error and the details are "Class Not Registered."

help

I cant get the trans slide show to work for me anymore

Does this work with DW CS3??
July 11, 2007 by Ashley Freedman

I thought I had this working but I can't seem to replicate. My goal was to not have the slideshow play automatically upon the page loading but rather associate indicators (e.g. play & stop images) to play & stop the slideshow when the user chooses.

Please let me know.

Thanks, Ashley

Hyperlinks...

Great extension and it works a treat! Just one quick question.... is it possible to add hyperlinks to each individual image? Thanks

Trans Slide Show
June 16, 2010 by tina tina

hello,

I am having trouble using this extension. For some reason I can not fill in the field "Base Image". It does not allow me to put in the first image to start with and so I can't do the rest of the effects. It only allows me to browse and add the next images. I am using Dreamweaver cs4.

Must the image be in a layer only or can it be in a table?

 Thank you in advance.

Tina D.

Very Good For Free!
July 14, 2010 by Andy Laverdiere, Jr.

I must say this was a very easy extension to use.  I thought I would have problems getting it to work after reading some of the reviews but I got it going right out of the box. Nice transitions as well.  Adding hyperlinks and sound would be sweet but can't beat free if you are just looking to build a nice little slide show with some neat transition FX for your site!

help installing...
July 17, 2010 by Betsy Smith

this won't install, the directions say I need Dreamweaver 4 or higher... I have Dreamweaver CS4

I really like your trans slide extension and the only thing missing to it is the ability to add custom botton's i'm still tying to get around this and im sure i will the reason im stuck with this transition is because i dont really like the lack of transitions on the linked slide show plugin so until i get passed the links i think your trans slide is perfectly simple

Major Error
January 5, 2013 by Steven Pounders

I installed the extension, inserted the first image, and applied the Trans Slide Show Extension

but the window that opened cut off the bottom two fields: "Image Source File:" and "Show Image Transition:". The window cannot be resized, so I was unable to continue.
