hey guys...
I just started learning some stuff on a linux-mandrake machine, and I've been using VI to edit my php docs.

that's all fine and dandy, the only thing, is that there seems to be some temp files not being cleared out. like for example:
<pre id=code><font face=courier size=2 id=code>index.php index.php~ #index.php#</font id=code></pre id=code>I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong saving the files, or that was a "feature"

Thanks,

Joel,

As far as I remember from my days of using VI, those temporary files are a kind of 'feature'. They are purposely generated to allow versioning and rollback of your files.

If they are not needed you can simply delete them. I vaguely recall that it is possible to auto-delete them when exiting VI, but the solution to this one escapes me at the moment.
