what are the advantages (if any) of the fourth reich's MSQL Server vs. MySQL? Are there any performance issues?

How do they compare with Oracle's offering of the system?

Well, first off I have to say, monopoly issues aside, that I'm quite a fan of a few of Heir Gate's products.

No one in a dark suit and shades or an SS uniform has ever strongarmed me and forced me to use them - yet. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Performancewise MS SQL does quite well compared to the competition:

Featurewise, there are some things you can do in MS SQL (and Oracle - I think) that are not possible in MySQL.

MySQL doesn't support:

Subqueries
Stored Views
Stored procedures
Triggers

If you don't know what they are and haven't used them - you won't miss them, if you do and you have - you will.
