(warning: Blinding Flash of the obvious...)

Ever noticed at how most of the most succesful non-corporation sites filled a previosuly untouched gap)

eg... DeviantArt (let people share their creations), NeoPets (like Online PokeMon), Megagames (everything about games in one place), ComplainDomain (complained on the behalf of people) MP3.com (let people share thier own unsigned music)

So.. Heres a question... What do people want or need that hasn't been touched?

Somthing bold, somthing new and risky...

If anyone here comes up with an actual idea, then I don't see why DMXzone.com could have it as their pet project... make a sucesful multi-million dollar making web site in under 6 months for version 1.0...

Give away free money, your site will be outrageously successful in no time.

Seriously - this is the million dollar question, the web is pretty saturated and thousands of new sites are added every day. Everyone would like to find and develop an undiscovered niche market on the web, if I think of one I'll be sure and keep it to myself, until I launch the site anyway.

<b>Just my 2 cents</b>

I personally agree with oeastwick. It is a million dollar question. But here is a general answer. I think that whatever your idea might be, it should be something to do with "free". People, in general, flock to the word free. If you are looking to make money off of the site, then you would have to get money from advertisers. Personally, this can be a duanting task.

I'd like to see a site that can write code, maintain web, streaming media, caching and filtering servers as well as firewall and 'net security while dealing with the technology illiterate who SWEAR they are seasoned web masters so that I can free up some time to sit at my desk all day and geometrically increase the mass of my kiester, watch Fantasy Island reruns and find new ways to stream every song on every CD in my collection to every wired box on the planet simultaneously...oh yeah, and it should be free.

yer i agree with dave

web site design was fun before but now?

well Im still learning, and boy do you have to keep learning, I like learning until your client all of a sudden wants every gadget under the sun, then when you start to develop the gadget it seems to work, then hup---something doesnt work, so you look for the bug etc...

all i want to say is you cant do a nice solo effort these days, I think im gonna try and stay a flash guy and leave the asp and database stuff alone for the mo.

otherwise its just taking too long for one guy, or you need to be in a team and have someone producing the site, sites have really evolved.

Au contraire.

I like a challenge, the fact that there is allways something new to learn keeps it interesting.

If anyone wants to offload any programming and development work take a look at my site: www.drdev.net and get in touch. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
