Hi, Had the prom e-mail, read the reviews, bought the product,

Have a problem<img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

The promo for Layer Genie says and I quote

"a layer-based menu system with (multi-level) flyout or dropdown menus, even across frames. "

I bought the product because I want to display information "Across Frames"

e.g

I have a small top frame and a bottom frame

In the top frame I have a table with 1 row and several columns

I want to move the cursor over an image in one of the table columns to display the layer information (No problem - I can get that working), however there is a lot of information in the layer so I want the layer to flow "Across the Frames" as per your quote.

As I said I can make the layer appear in the top frame, offset etc. but because it contains a lot of text I only get text text until it gets to the bottom frame

Please tell me how to get the text over both the frames

Thanks

Hi David,

"Across frames" means that the menu layers can be in another frame than the menu triggers.
Layers can never be displayed covering frame bourdaries (there is no browser that can do that), but using Layer Genie they can be in the another frame and still be displayed correctly positioned in relation to their triggers.

Hope this clarifies it.

Regards,

Thanks for getting back to me, that's the conclusion I came to after about 2 hours

As I stated the reason for this purchase was to the "Across Frames" wording in your advertisments.

In furture I suggest you word your advertisments claims very carefully to avoid misleading prospective customers

Thanks

David,

An extension can never accomplish something that browsers technically can't do, and I'm really sorry that our advertisement lead you to believe otherwise.

But I still think the 'across frames' phrase accurately describes the feature. How would you describe it then?

Something like "position and display in other frames"

I believe this to be mis-representative too as thats why i bought the product. Coolmenus achieves this with javascript so i dont believe that what you say about being impossible is true

Can you point me to an URL where the DHTML menu is overlapping frame borders?
I would really like to see it.
