Pwashere, is it not enough for you to post your 2 questions in one forum, you have to spam them right thru all associated ones too.

I for one won't help you in situations like this, as i think it really takes the piss out of people who spend their free time trying to help others.

and that's my 2 pence worth.

George, Martha come on, give this OPEN forum some moderators, these posts i refer to just waste our time and make your DB bigger.

Regards,
Dave

DITTO!!!!

Why not let Dave and I do some moderating. We (and a small group of others) seem to be the only ones answering posts here.

None of your moderators have posted in over a year. And George and Martha stick mainly to the support forums.

I agree! This forum just need some moderators and there must also be a strict policy on this form.

Like some titels "help me" that makes no sense!

Moderators can keep this form at a high quality level.

I also think that we need another 'headform' called ASP.NET.

Dave and Phil are good posters and moderators. If the DMXZone team is looking for another: me! <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I would also suggest reorganizing the forums. Its a forgone conclusion that the vistors will be using Dreamweaver, so I suggest closing or combining the DreamWeaver and Programmer Talkzones.

Just have a forum for each "flavor" of dreamweaver:
.html
.asp
asp.NET
.php
.cfml
database questions

Then have a "How do I use the application" Zone
MX 2004
MX
Pre-MX

Then have a zone listing links to all your commercial extensions support forums

Then post "sticky's" at the head of each forum with rules for posting.

<b>You guys are losing business because there appears to be a lack of response.</b> You have people complaininjg in month old posts about the support here (www.dmxzone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=27202).

Even I am dismayed at the lack of attention to your boards. You have people (right here) offering to help you guys out.

What do you say?

I agree with the moderation of the rooms but not sure if a reformat is really required.

I have been coming here for about 3 years and the site has been working well but as the others haev rightly said, the content can sometimes be duplicated.

As for the .net forum, well I asked the same question a few days ago and I didnt realise that there is actually a dedicated site for that www.dnzone.com

With that in mind I feel the current structure is good for Dreamweaver.

Not saying that I am right but just wanted to add my feelings on this valid posting.

Look forward to seeing what you at DMZzone have to say.

Vince

I like the idea of realigning the categorization of the forums into the different server types, etc. especially since there is little to no major conceptual difference between Ultradev and MX now.

I don't agree with the assessment that the DMX Zone staff do not respond to their customers, as I have always had a prompt response when using the extension forums. It seems to me the problem is that people are not posting their extension support questions into the extension forums - and that is why their questions aren't getting answered.

Remember, the main forums are for fellow developers to help each other as a community - the extension forums serve that purpose as well as to allow the DMX Zone staff to respond to direct extension issues.

Not sure how many others out there would like to see the forum categories reorganized, but I would be interested to find out.

Just to be clear here, We are not making that assessment. I am only saying that the perception exists if you read these forums.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in posting here. The problem is that people are posting extension-specific queries in the general forums, yes; but that's because it's not easy to see where you should post them. We understand that and are looking to redesign so everything is more intuitive. Another problem, common to every forum all over the web is inadequate subject headers: "Help!" is vastly inferior to "Question about iframes" or "Problems moving Oracle DB into Access". We're frustrated too, cos everyone who posts a "help!" query in an obscure place and gets no response feels dissatisfied, and that hurts our business, of course. We're collating the answers to our usability quiz, working out a more usable re-engineering of the site. And may very well take up your offers to be moderaters. Thanks for that.

I think I might , yet again, change my opinion. DMX's support HAS dropped considerably in the past six months. I have no problem helping others around here, but I cannot, in good conscience, recommend you guys id the person expects support.

The products are great. But, as is normal, there are bugs. The user has to be pretty skilled to work them out on their own. If they are skilled enough to succeed, they probably don't need the extension.

I run a business and know that the customer support is the most costly aspect. However, its what we are all in business to do - support the customer.

I checked and saw that neither George nor pwoldberg have posted on any boards (including support) since April 8. Search the boards for "support" - you'll see what I am talking about.

I suspect that there is something outside of this forum (and its products) that is occupying George and company. I hope its worth it because they are losing customers.

In the meantime, I will keep lurking around trying to help out. But it will be tough not to agree with these people.

Hope you guys come back soon. Everyone misses you.

HI All,

Sorry for my delay in response too.

My and Patrick generaly do not monitor the public forum on DMXzone thats why we do not reply often there. We already have quite enough on the extensions support.

There were some moderators assigned at the public forums like joelmartinez, vfarcic, rawveg, Maehdros etc - but it seems they all dropped dead ...

So we need new moderators!!

I see that UltraDav, wdglide and maybe others want to help with this. It so just let me know and specify which areas you would like to be assigned to. Mail me provitely at

Also if you have beter ideas about the forum structure - lets discuss those - I agree that it needs some improvements.

Post your ideas here:

George
