When someone posts a new topic in a forum how about searching the <b>Subject:</b> for keywords and then displaying the FAQ's and tuturials with the same keyword.

True words spoken. So many posts, so little searchers.

I usually get a lot of answers/links by searching here (DMXzone) first, then Google...and I think many people would be suprised at how <i>cool</i> Google is. Maybe we should teach people what types of keywords they can use in Google for better searching <i>(ie. just by adding the language in search queries - PHP/ASP/etc.)</i>.

But maybe search results links of your Subject post would be a wonderful feature!

Sure the longer you're in this game the more code you can write - but also you learn how to search for answers on Google.
I'll give away one of my secrets here... When I'm answering a post I often Google for the answer and its usually there in the top 5 results; but <i>sshhh</i> don't tell anyone! <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

The search feature on DMXZone is perfect for the job, it returns results with a % mark on how good a match they are. So <b>WHEN</b> people start rating articles here the popular / successful ones should rise to the top of the likely answers by virtue of how good they are.

Would it be patronising to write a quick and dirty guide to searching and put it up as an FAQ or tutorial?

I think an FAQ is needed, AND the sticky of "before you post" may want to be updated to include searching DMXzone first, yada-yada, and plug "Google Searching 101".

help yourself to edit the sticky m8, no problem from me on that.
