hello,

I am building an animated flyout menu with Layer Genie. Everything works
the way I want except for one small problem.

This page shows the menu with the problem:
www.jarrod-beglinger.com/client/EMS/solutionsresource2.html

If you move your mouse from "Solutions" sideways to "Home" or
"About EMSystem," the flyout menu DOES NOT RETURN when you go
back to "Solutions."

This page shows how the menu should work (unfortunately not animated,
and not using Layer Genie):

I would appreciate it if somebody could help me resolve this at your
earliest convenience.

You can "View Source" at the pages, of course, but if you need any more
information, please let me know.

thanks much,
jarrod

Hello Jarrod,

You're mixing Layer Genie with MM_showHideLayer(): you're using Layer Genie to display the menu layer and you're using MM_showHideLayer() to hide it again.
Try using Layer Genie for hiding the menu layer.

Furthermore, I see you have the code for the menu layer inside a table cell. That may cause positioning problems in some browsers. The safest thing is to move the menu layer code outside any table.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

hi Marja,

dank je wel! the menu does indeed work perfectly when i use Layer Genie
for all of the functions and eliminate MMshowhideLayer.

regarding your other suggestion to move the menu code outside of the
table cell - i don't know how to do this while keeping the menu position
correct relative to the page in my "dynamic" layout.

by "dynamic," i mean the page is centered and the graphics accomodate
changes in text size from the user.

i know this is not relevant to LayerGenie, so if you don't want to get into
it further, i understand. if you don't mind, however, i would appreciate it.

thanks again for your help with the menu.

Hi again Jarrod,

You can safely move the menu layer outside the table and use Layer Genie's built in 'anchoring' feature to always display it in the right spot, even in a centered page setup.

See the tutorial at www.dmxzone.com/showDetail.asp?TypeId=2&NewsId=4361&LinkFile=tutorials/horizontal_nav/index.htm

Hope this helps.
