I noticed that if you set the volume level less than 100% and set the mp3 to looping in the properies box of the Active SlideShow extension, it only uses the specified volume level for the first loop of the mp3. After the first time through it plays at 100% volume. This is bad if you want to use subtle backgroud music at say 50% and then the volume jumps up to 100% after the first loop through the music.
