Does anyone know of a script that I can place within my code to prevent view source? I am working with Dreamweaver 8. Please advise.

as far as i know it can't be done.

even if you stop them using the right click context menu for the option, the browser will still let you use it's own view source menu.

Yes it can be done, I've seen it, but I dont think dreamweaver has the capability. It works using a program call: WebLock Pro. The software cost money to obtain a license, but Im looking for a method to do it for free, forget paying.

Hi Elaine

There are many ways to prevent view source, disable right click, but these are no good because in the end, your page is downloaded to the users computer and stored in their Temporary Internet Files or other cache directory where they can help themselves to your code. Also if someone clicks File Save As.. they can download your page with ease too. So unfortunatley there is not much you can do about preventing opther people viewing the source code from you pages.

I've tried in the past but failed

Hope that helps

If your pages are php then they can be encoded so that the php doesn't show, it gets decoded on the server then executed, then the resulting html gets served so even that way wouldn't hide the html.

I had a quick look at WebLock Pro, did a quick Google search and found www.safalra.com/hypertext/html/unlocking-weblock-pro/ it tells you how to look at the code of the 'unbreakable' page, out of interest I did have a look using Firefox. Needless to say that I will not be paying money for WebLock Pro.

Another way around it would be to take an open source browser and hack the code, after all the browser has got to be able to see the clear text at some point otherwise it can't display the words.
