I just got the email about the release of Dynamic Flash Gallery and so far it looks pretty impressive. But for the price I really think it should support multiple albums and the creation of new albums dynamically. I'm a photographer not a professional web designer and I was only planning to use this on my own site. Then I started to think that I could build a few sites to offset the price, but every time the client wants to add a new album to their site they'd have to call me to create the album, change their menus or main gallery page, etc, etc. I guess it's easy enough to do, but I still think it would be great if it was built into Dynamic Flash Gallery so the end user had full control.

Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your feedback!

How do you see exactly the multple galleries feature? Will each new gallery be linked from the main menu or just have them all in a single viewer but first let them choose the gallery and then explore it?

Greetings,
George

I've set up a test site at the url below that uses the free SimpleViewer Admin if you want to see an example of what I'm talking about:

www.arossphoto.com/simpleviewer/

It creates an html gallery page with links, descriptions and thumbnails for each album. When you create a new album in the admin panel it automatically adds this new album to the main gallery page. In the admin panel you can also configure the colours of the album, thumbnail rows/columns, nav position, etc, etc for each album. All this and it's free! There is also SlideShowPro Admin, which I have mentioned here before that does similar things for $5. These admins solutions offer a lot considering their low prices, but unfortunately I just don't like the front ends that they use.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

yes this kind of multiple galleries I'm also considering as well - more the slideshowpro way; the user gets first list of the galleries and then zooms in a single gallery.

I've checked all the admins you mention and I don't like them either.

The direction we choose is more having the "what you see is what you can edit" way - so building inline admin in the viewer.

george

<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

This is definitely very nice, although I imagine there must be some inherent limitations in building the admin features into the viewer, rather than in a separate admin panel. But I'm sure you guys will come up with a great solution, and it's nice to know you're planning this for a future release.

I've been working with DFG for a couple weeks now while I've been setting up my new site, and I see now that there are some advantages to having separate albums. I'm trying to optimize my new site for SEO, and for these purposes it's definitely better to have separate galleries, with separate html pages, body text, links, etc. It would certainly be more convenient to support multiple albums, and I would love to log-in once and work with all my galleries, but then I would only have one html page for all galleries.

For SEO I would actually prefer to stay away from Flash completely. I wish there was a decent php/mysql gallery system with search-engine friendly captions, etc, but that's another topic all together probably better suited for another forum <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I just hope you will consider this when you're making any upgrades and try to give the end user as many choices as possible, so they can decide how to set up their own sites.

Cheers,

Andrew

Has there been any progress on mulitple albums? Can you tell us if it will be implemented any time soon? As I mentioned above I can probably live without it myself, but I've been thinking of producing some galleries for other people and I know they would definitely prefer to be able to create new albums themselves with DFG.

If there are any plans for a new release soon that supports multiple albums I will hold off for awhile.

Thanks,

Andrew

Hello!?! What's going on around here? I've posted questions in several different places and no one is responding. Are you still supporting these products and answering the question of users who paid for them?
