Hi I'm new here but could really appreciate some help. I use Fireworks MX all the time for my work. A lot of the images I use, say for navigation, are used on many jobs so it has been my practice to just do a save as on the png from a previous job and create a new png in the current file I am working on. Then I can change colours or whatever and if I have to go back to an earlier job to make changes the original png will be there so less hassle. I've done this over and over for years but on my current job I'm getting an error message I can't explain. I've saved as, a particular PNG - made the changes and then go to export as a gif or jpeg but it comes up with the error "could not complete your request - File is locked" - can't find anything about file locking in the help manuals so decided to do a work around and us the original png and make the changes there - but now I'm getting the same error message. Has anyone got any idea what this is about........?

Thanks

in windows explorer if you are using windows, check the permissions and see if the file is actually read only file, if it is then change it and try again.
hopefully is only that.

can you test the file on another machine. To rule out if it is your copy of Fireworkx the problem

Not easily, however I tried opening with an earlier version that I still have on my machine Fireworks 4 - unfortunately still got the problem.

I could upload or email the png?

Thanks for the input by the way
