In the demos, I see the "Images" tab has a "Resize Images" option. By checking this box, if I have a rectangular image (portrait or landscape) and set the Max Height and Width to be a square, will it distort the image, or constrain the proportions?

Well if you click the resize images checkbox the images will make to fit the specified dimensions. So a proportional resize will be done.

However the flash gallery player will use the same specified size and will stretch the images to fit in there....

So currently it works best with images with same size. We will improve that in upcoming updates and allow different sizes.
