I have installed ASP on a page of my site. It is only a "test" page as I want to make sure it works before changing it to the homepage.
It appears to work fine but if I navigate to a different page and then return to the ASP page the slideshow does not appear.
Can you suggest a reason?

Brian

Hi,

If you go to : www.faith.org.uk/TestIndex.html, click on one of the six images to take you to another page, then use the back button to return to the original page sometimes the video does not appear.

ALSO:
If you use Mozilla the page functions very slowly and the dropdowns do not appear when you hover over the menu. However, in IE7 it is fine.

Would much appreciate your help on these problems as I would really like to use Active Slideshow Pro. The video is excellent and it is easy to set up and edit.

Hi,
Wonder if you have any further ideas on this?
I am keen to solve both problems but particularly the one related to the dropdowns not showing.
Would appreciate your help.

Hi Brian,

Are you sure you are returning exactly to TestIndex.html? I have tested it and the slideshow always appears when I return to that page.

Hi Kiril,

The problem is that the video sometimes appears and sometimes doesn't. If you try using the back button (after clicking on one of the images to take you to a different page) once, and then going through the process again, I think you will find that sometimes you get a blank and sometimes the loading bar followed by a blank.

Would also very much appreciate you comments on the dropdowns problem.

Hi Kiril,

Re the dropdowns problem, I've discovered something:

The flash coding generated by Active Slideshow Pro suppresses the dropdowns. Flash coding generated by 3DFlowGallery does not.

Here are the two blocks of code:

WORKS:

<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" width="514" height="129" id="ImageFlowGallery1" title="Untitled Gallery">
<param name="movie" value="imageflowgallery/3DFlowGallery.swf" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="xmlFile=imageflowgallery/ImageFlowGallery1.xml" />
<param name="quality" value="best" />
<embed src="imageflowgallery/3DFlowGallery.swf" width="514" height="129" quality="best" name="ImageFlowGallery1" pluginspage="www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" flashvars="xmlFile=imageflowgallery/ImageFlowGallery1.xml" title="Untitled Gallery"></embed>
</object>

DOESNT WORK:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="514" height="129" id="testshow" align="middle">
<param name="FlashVars" value="xmlFile=testshow.xml&preloaderBackColor=0x0099FF&preloaderBorderColor=0xCCCCCC" />
<param name="movie" value="slideshowpro.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="best" />
<param name="scale" value="noscale" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
<embed src="slideshowpro.swf" id="testshow" wmode="transparent" quality="best" flashvars="xmlFile=testshow.xml&preloaderBackColor=0x0099FF&preloaderBorderColor=0xCCCCCC" scale="noscale" bgcolor="#000000" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="514" height="129" pluginspage="www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>

They are very similar so, for someone experienced (not me!) it should not be too difficult to determine the rreason why one suppresses the dropdowns and the other doesn't.

www.faith.org.uk/testindex.html contains Active Slideshow Pro. www.faith.org.uk/testindex5.html contains 3DFlowGallery.

Any ideas?

Brian

Hi George,
I don't think my problem is due to Active Slideshow Pro displaying on top of the dropdowns as, if this were the case, would I not see some of the dropdowns (above and below the flash) ? I see no dropdowns at all when I hover over the menu bar.

Hi George,
Have solved it but don't know why!!
If you go to www.faith.org.uk/TestIndex6.html the dropdowns work fine.
I simply created another test page, reinstalled the flash and then reinstalled the image enhancer.
Thanks so much for your help. Cannot understand why it didn't work before, but it does now! Sorry to have troubled you.
Regards
Brian

Hi Brian,

Glad to see you have solved it - in the most cases in looked also fine for me - so maybe it was just a browser caching problem.

Greetings,
George
