Is there a way to make the scale (magnification) grow out from the center?

Right now it magnifies like it's docked to the bottom or top of the area it's sitting in - is there a setting to make it look like it the magnification is coming from the center of the area? Like it's just getting fatter - the top and bottom of the icon would both expand...
