Is there any way it can be increased? My choices are being cut off due to default width limitations. (This is using a regular - not a mega menu dropdown.)

Hi Frank,

Just select the sub menu you want to make wider and enter size in the "width" field. It is on the right side below all other options like title, link etc.

George

Hi George,

Using the "regular menu" options, the "width" field appears to be unavailable for entry to be made.

Hi Frank,

The width is for the full sub menu. So that is why you need to set it on the parent menu with type sub menu and not on its individual items.

George,

Specifying the submenu width seems to be a "first time only" event. After I defined the width when first creating the menu, it appears that I cannot get back to it to modify the size using the extension's wizard. I have to change it in the menu's JavaScript file? This does work, but is there another way to access the submenu width once it has been defined initially?

Okay, I guess it has to be done in the JavaScript file; seems to work okay.

Have had more time to play and this seems to be a great extension that will save me lots of headaches. Along the way, I'm learning lots more about manipulating screen elements using CSS as well.

Thank you for your efforts.

Good to hear you like it Frank!

I will check on this one time only saving of the width.
if it is a bug will fix it in the next update.

Let me know if you find anything else.

George

[v]It appears that with release 1.01 my ability to control my submenu width cannot be done in the JScript file. I have defined it as 215 there, since some of my submenu options have long captions and additional 3rd level options. The letters are now cut off (at 150 pixels?) and the 3rd level arrow indicating further suboptions is overlapping the submenu letters that can be seen.

I still don't see a way that the overall submenu width can be accessed once it is initially defined. Do I have to design the whole menu from scratch if I want to try to change the submenu width? The "submenu" option from the dropdown "Menu Type" list becomes unavailable as soon as I add menu items.

Hoping for a solution without having to do this all over from scratch again.

Further to this new release, I designed a new menu with submenu width defined as 200 pixels. This was on a test page,
www.polytrondevices.com/indext2.html You can see that the top level menu options are much smaller than that. The submenu width I entered now seems to be ignored. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hopefully, it's me....[]

Hi Frank,

I see that you are bit confused about the sub menu width options.

1. The Sub Menu Width option in the second tab of the menu dialog is a global default option. So if specified it will be used a s default for all menus (otherwise default is 150)

2. For each sub menu you can define own width in the first tab of the menu dialog. Just make a menu with sub menus - pick the sub menu itself (not its children) and you will have an width field on right bottom. Setting this will override the default as per point 1 and make this sub menu as wide as you specify there.

So its all on the interface you don't need to specify anything else.

George

George,
OK, sometimes pics are better to describe what I'm trying to say...

Here is a menu I made with version 1.0 that has sufficiently wide menu choices:
polytrondevices.com/newindexg.asp

Here is what I'm seeing in Dreamweaver CS4 after specifying a submenu width of 215 pixels:
polytrondevices.com/indext3.asp

- Obviously not the same result as the first one I did, and yet it looks wide enough in the DW design screen.

I will email you screen shots of what I'm seeing, that does not seem to be what you describe that I should see if I want to change individual submenu width on the first tab when I select one of the items, if I am understanding you correctly. I don't think I'm able to post them in this message - I just get img and /img tags when I try to do that.

Hi Frank,

Specially for you I've made a video that shows how the menu width is used.

Here it is: www.dmxzone.com/movies/george/CSSMenuWidth_demo/CSSMenuWidth_demo.htm
