I found this topic from July 2005 where George said there should be an option for dynamic album generation available "in about 1-2 months".I assume this didn't happen, but I was wondering what the current status is on this, if any.
There is an admin solution for SimpleViewer called SimpleViewerAdmin that I tested and liked a lot. Unfortunately, I didn't like SimpleViewer very much and just couldn't get it to fit into the format of my site. SlideShowPro also has a very nice administrative back-end available for it, but again I didn't like the front end.
Flash Album Generator 2 seems to have all the front-end options I need, but are there any plans for an administrative back-end that will allow dynamic albums? I noticed that the old version used SimpleViewer, so could you SimpleViewerAdmin with it or with the new version?
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Yes I have to admit we got delayed by some other extensions.
However we are now hard on track in developing a full flash admin for Flash Album.
So with a single click and login your gallery will be fully editable with all its options as well multiple file uploads directly from flash (flash 8) as well server side generating thumbnails and such.
We will deliver it in all major server languages, the flash part is now almost done together with the php backend.
We expect to release it in about a month.
Greetings,
George

You say this will be done with flash 8, what about a browser based administration with image uploads, etc from any computer? Will that be possible?
Andrew

Thanks for the clarification George. I thought that's probably what you meant.
I'm looking forward to seeing the admin for Flash Album and I hope it will support the creation of multiple albums with some kind of main gallery page with links and descriptions of each album. This is how the SlideShowPro Admin works and it's pretty slick. I bought that a couple months ago and was hoping to make it work, but I just wasn't happy with front end.
Now I'm happy with the front end options of Flash Album, but anxiously awaiting a decent back-end. I really hope you can develop the kind of complete package that I've been searching for.
Cheers,
Andrew

I know you are waiting guys - so we are working hard on the release! It seems all fine and if it goes like this we will be ready with it next week!
It is amazing how well it works - suddenly your gallery turns in edit mode and you can add, replace or delete your photos! All inline in the same flash viewer! Password protected of course. So you edit what you see! No separate difficult admin pages for your users - just direct visual edit!
You can give this power to your customers and let them manage their galleries after you deliver them initially with their sites.
We will deliver the PHP solution initially and probably a week later the ASP solution.
I'm really excited about it as well.
Greetings,
george

So, what sort of upgrade arangment would one get from the purchace of the previous version. I just got mine today. I like it, but it's obviously not ment for professional site usage (my first realization was there was no means to have a relational data with this thing. It's just based on the file directory that you've grabbed, and where it outputs)...However, it's a great quick 'n dirty tool. So, I'd be more interested in the up and coming version.
Also, is there an indirect way to modify what I have here so I can at least change the default font. Part of the reasons why I use Flash is to get away from fonts like Arial, Verdana and so fourth...

I'm very curious, also, as to what the upgrade arrangements will be.
The teaser shows the ability to add a link target, and that would pretty much solve most of my problems. Plus, the ability to add and update entries dynamically would make me a very happy gallery user!
Thanks!

Hi All,
just to clarify - this will be an Add On of the existent Flash Gallery. So you will need the Flash Gallery Generator 2 extension.
Also as the Dynamic Flash Gallery adds file upload and server side image resize you will also need Pure Upload and Smart Image Processor extensions.
Those who have the above extensions or just a few will get big discount of what they need.
Those who don't have any of the upload extensions will get the whole package with huge discount.
Note that the Dynamic Flash Gallery is a powerfull solution. It will make your galleries fully updatable with lots of extra server side functionality like multiple image upload, resize and gallery update all with just a few clicks.
Also our licenses are per developer so - you as a website developer - can use the solution on as many sites that you build - no limitations.
Only if your colleague also want to use it then you need another license.
Much the same way as Dreamweaver is licensed.
Greetings,
George

I hate to be critical before this is even released, but this sounds like it's getting expensive. Pure PHP Image Bundle alone is $179, do you have any idea yet what the price will be with Dynamic Flash Gallery? I realize this is probably a bargain for a developer who is charging for web sites, but I'm only using it on my own site. The alternative that I mentioned above, SlideShowPro Admin, offers most of the admin features you're talking about, and possibly more, and it's only $5! I didn't expect this to be that cheap, but I guess I was also hoping that it would be under a hundred bucks.
Like I said I don't want to be too critical without seeing the finished product, but will it allow for drag and drop rearranging of images so they will display in the order I want them? What about multiple albums? Will it create any kind of main entrance page that will link to individual albums or will I have to do this manually and update it everytime I add a new album? All of this is possible with SSPAdmin for 5 bucks, so I guess I have very high expectations for your product if it's going to be a couple hundred.
Thanks,
Andrew
