I've been waiting patiently for this, but I must say I'm disappointed by what I've seen tonight. Do the captions and the slide show controls always have to appear on top of the main image? Can the slide show controls be turned off? I personally think it's a horrible idea to put things on top of your pictures like this and it can create a terrible distraction to a beautiful image.

All the images in the demo are the exact same aspect ratio, but how does it work with different sized images and a mix of vertical and horizontal? Why not post an example that better reflects the way people would actually use it?

What about multiple galleries and dynamic management of a gallery once it is live on the web? I hate to be so critical, but for a hundred bucks I would expect much more than what you're offering here and there are already much better alternatives available for much, much less.

You can easily make the controls unvisible by changing the CSS and making them visible on mouse over only.
This is done by adding display:none on the regular nav images css rules and adding display:"" on the image :hover css rules

Most of the advanced gallery configuration can be done this way, see the manual at: www.dmxzone.com/go?13985

Sure we will put a gallery demo for this one as well. We just haven't had time for it.
The way it is done is making the gallery bigger so it always fit all images in it. The images that does not fit will be cropped.

galleries management is always difficult issue as every user like to have the gallery selection different way.
Some want to have gallery selected from the menu's, other from thumbnails, third from popups etc.
That is why we left this to the user - and it isn't much difficult as you can have multiple galleries on the same page or multiple pages.

Of course we are always trying to improve the product so if good ideas come we might integrate them quickly in feature versions.

Greetings,
George

Thanks for the quick response. I'd like the controls and captions to be visible all the time, but never on top of the main image. I've also never thought it was a good idea to hide important things like navigation and information from web site users. People shouldn't have to find those features by accident when they mouse over something. I know you could put instructions somewhere, but I also think that is a bad idea. Your site navigation should be easy to use and accessible, and if you have to write instructions for use there is something wrong.

I know this is the first version, and hope I'm not sounding too negative, but with some modifications I think this could be much better.

Cheers,

Andrew

Thanks for the update. I just had a look, but I really don't like galleries that resize and move all over the place like that. I think it's a big mistake to turn your your navigation into a moving target that is never in the same place.

Sorry, but I'm still not buying. <img src=../images/dmxzone/forum/icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>
