Write A Tutorial Competition
Time is Running Out!
Due to high demand we have extended the competition till Monday November 11, 2002. This is your absolute last chance.
We are giving away the greatest and most inspiring books in the field to the best tutorials we receive. The 1st Prize Winner will receive the Storefront 6.0 AE for Dreamweaver software package! And the tutorial will be featured on the front page of UDzone.
This competition is open to members of UDZone, MXZone, DWZone, FWZone and FLZone. Joining the competition is easy, as long as you keep the rules in your mind.
So what is this competion all about?
Our mission statement is to provide the Macromedia community with tools for developers so they can learn, teach and help each other using Macromedia products and webdevelopment. By organizing this competition we try to encourage the average Zone Member to share his/her knowledge with the community and give him/her something back in return. What do I need to do?
Write a tutorial for DreamweaverMX, FlashMX or General webdevelopment. This sounds easy, but it might be more complicated and challenging than you would expect. What makes my tutorial a winner?
That's a good question. Writing a tutorial is not an easy thing to do. Here are some things that we think are important for a good tutorial for one of the Zones:- What the tutorial is about must be interesting for our community
- Tutorials should be written in proper English
It's not the difficulty of the things taught that makes a tutorial the best it's the way you explain something.
There are lots of good and bad examples on the web. Try to find a good balance between text, images, videos, downloads, sounds, flash, etc that you use in your tutorial.
What are the categories?
- Server-side programming
- Flash/Design
- Macromedia MX products
What are the rules?
No competition is without rules:- The tutorial may not have been published anywhere else on the web or in any books, videos etc.
- The tutorial must be yours.
- The tutorial must follow the general guidelines for posting a tutorial at this site (see www.UDzone.com/go?482)
- Tutorials can be submitted to the appropriate category until October 31st. Tutorials received after that date can not win anymore.
- Tutorials uploaded to other categories than the competition categories are not joining the competition.
- The uploaded tutorials will all remain invisible for the public until November 1st.
- After this date they will be available for review online for a month until December 1st.
- You are allowed to upload as much tutorials as you like.
- The jury, consisting of the UDZone team, will decide which tutorials will be the winners and no one else. We will announce the winners on December 3rd! Corresponding on the decision of the jury is not possible.
- Zone Managers are excluded from this competition (sorry folks).
So how do I start?
Follow the following steps:- First read how tutorials are being submitted to our zones: www.UDzone.com/go?482
- Try to find out what might be an interesting topic to write a tutorial on.
- Write your tutorial using plain HTML files and any assets that you need.
- Upload it (following the tutorial) to the zone. We have made 3 categories representing the 3 competition categories.
Feel free to contact competition@udzone.com when you have any questions about the competition or when you are facing difficulties uploading the tutorial.
Good Luck
