Can No Longer Install DMXZone Extensions

have this problem
22 Jan 2014 22:15:57 Jake M. posted:
I can't install DMXZone extensions any more. I install the extension, launch Dreamweaver, it brings up the DMXZone interface to complete installation. I enter my subscription serial number, username, password and it throws an error saying:
"ERROR INCOMPLETE INSTALLATION!!
Cannot find the complimentary installation file file:///c|Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Adobe Dreamweaver CC/Configuration/temp/SMailerPHP10/SMailerPHP10_install.xml"

This is for any DMXZone extension I try - this example is for Smart Mailer. I've uninstalled all extensions and reinstalled with no success. I've even uninstalled Dreamweaver entirely, deleted the remaining directory, cleaned my registry, rebooted, and and I still cannot install any DMXZone extensions. I can install other non-DMXZone extensions, though.
I'm under a time crunch at this point - any help would be appreciated before I do a complete Operating System rebuild to attempt to solve this.

Hi All,

We finally were able to find out what was causing the problem and corrupting our extension installers!

It turns out that the new WebAssist extensions have a bad code in them that empties the Dreamweaver temp folder on each page open so actually trashing our extension installers...

How to solve the problem:

1. Remove all WebAssist extensions
2. Go to:

for Windows:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\en_US\Configuration\Commands

for Mac:
/Users/<YourUserName>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC/en_US/Configuration/Commands

(if you have CS6 or other DW version replace the CC in the above paths with it)

Make sure that those two files are not in there:
installer_onOpen.htm
installer2_onOpen.htm

If they still exists then delete them.

After that you will be able to install the extensions from DMXzone as you are used to.

We will contact WebAssist and let them know about the issue, so hopefully they will soon fix their extensions to be less destructive ... but for the time being follow the procedure above.

George Petrov

1. I install a DMXZone extension (any extension) via the Extension Manager. It completes that part successfully.
2. I launch Dreamweaver and open a page. The DMXZone installer launches. I enter my serial number, then my username and password.
3. This error pops up:
"ERROR INCOMPLETE INSTALLATION!!
Cannot find the complimentary installation file file:///c|Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Adobe Dreamweaver CC/Configuration/temp/SMailerPHP10/SMailerPHP10_install.xml"

To try and fix this, I have:
Uninstalled all extensions.
Uninstalled Dreamweaver CC.
Deleted the remaining Dreamweaver directories following uninstallation.
Rebooted.
Reinstalled Dreamweaver CC.
Reinstalled only SmartMailer to test - it still fails.
I am able to install other non-DMXZone extensions with no issue.

I was now able to install HTML5 Slideshow. Smart Mailer still fails when trying to install it, as does Nivo Slider.

Please note that I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling all extensions many times and even Dreamweaver itself twice.

I have the exact same issue . I spoke to teodor 2 days ago and just found this. when he spoke to me it appeared he never heard of the issue. I am surprised to see that he actually worked on the problem before. It also started roughly one week ago. Also Win 7 and i tried on CS6 as well as CC. No dice

Did you get this resolved ?

After uninstalling and re-installing Dreamweaver and all extensions, and rebuilding my user profile, I still get the error with Smart Mailer PHP. So far, I'm able to install the other extensions that had been giving me problems. Though I haven't yet re-installed everything that I had previously. I'm just installing them as I need them.
I've given up on Smart Mailer PHP since I can't install it - I'm using Universal E-mail from WebAssist since I already owned that.

Are you in contact with DMX ? something must have changed either as Windows update or how the extension manager installs. There is a third person where this started roughly one week ago. I am trying this on CC as well as CS6 . And also here many times the one which never works is smartmailer. I venture to say that the ones who mostly fail are related to php in some way and not jquery/ajax. Like smartmailer.php or zipprocessor.php or phpupload and so on. This is not an isolated incident with just you. I am hoping more people are coming out of the woodwork. Also i asked for a workaround and have not received a solution

Hi All,

We are working hard to isolate the issue, but currently without success. As there are different CC versions now and different OS factors of influence, we need your help.

To help us please specify the following:

1. What is your exact DW version (Help/About), the latest is DW CC 13.2 build 6466

2. What is your exact Extension Manager CC version (in EM Help/About) , the latest is EM 7.1.1.32

3. What is your exact OS version and 64/32 bits.

4. Do you have localized Dreamweaver version?

5. What is your exact location of your Dremweaver User Configuration Path? This should be something like:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\en_US\Configuration

6. After fresh extension installation in EM , before starting DW, do you find the missing xml file at this location? For example:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\en_US\Configuration\temp\SMailerPHP10\SMailerPHP10_install.xml

7. Do you see other files in this temp folder?

So please answer the above questions as detailed as possible, so we can solve this issue as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your help and understanding.

Greetings,
George

Yes the xml file is there

7. Do you see other files in this temp folder?
all files belonging to the installation

In general george, i was on live chat with Teo and Miro and they should have shared the findings with you. On a fresh installation all files are showing up as they should in the temp folder in the C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\en_US\Configuration\temp folder. I understand from Miro the files are than being copied the the C:\programfiles\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\en_US\Configuration\temp directory and that is not happening. Once dreamweaver is started after the extension install the files are being deleted in the first temp directory but never copied to the second temp directory. and than the install fails. As i stated before the config folder appears to be not corrupt as i could uninstall all extensions and than start over and it fails at random places. i am having currently 15 products installed sometimes i only got 2. Also the updates do not work anymore. the install fails after download.

7. Do you see other files in this temp folder? (same as above)

- one thing I remember about when this all started - I had installed Nivoslider via the DMXZone Updater, then restarted Dreamweaver. After that everything kind of went nuts. I had never installed anything via the updated before that.

After installing Smart Mailer PHP:
6. After fresh extension installation in EM , before starting DW, do you find the missing xml file at this location? - Yes

7. Do you see other files in this temp folder? - Yes

I watched the Temp folder as I launched Dreamweaver. When I launched Dreamweaver, a folder called "Downloadcache" appeared. When I launched a file, both the Downloadcache and SMailerPHP10 folders disappeared as soon as the DMXZone install wizard popped up.

For grins, I copied that SMailerPHP10 folder before it disappeared, then pasted it back in there before I completed the installation. It still said it couldn't find the file, even though I had put it back after it disappeared. After restarting Dreamweaver, it just deleted the folder again when DMXZone wizard popped up.

Hi Scott,
I just spent the last 30 minutes trying to recreate the error message in CS6 and CC.
1. I reinstalled both DW CC and CS6 and EM CC and CS6, which of course cleared all of the extensions from there also.
2. I downloaded the DMXzone Updater, clicked on Install All, and the updater downloaded ALL of the extensions from our website, as i am using a subscription.
3. I restarted DW and entered the serial number and username/password

All is working fine on both CS6 and CC.
Please do what we already suggested - reinstall your DW and install your extensions again. This solved all of the other users' problems.

i already did that twice and it doesn't work. believe me i have better things to do than posting here and try to resolve these issues.. i have sent you guys screenshots of the error messages so you know they are valid. If i have 10 extensions installed and all is working fine and than run the updater and it breaks i think its reasonable to assume there is an issue with your product. PLUS miro from tech support suggested an issue with the updater.

Maybe Jake can chime in and let me know if he is fine now.
