I keep on getting an error when trying to update my extensions with:
"Server responded with status code 407"

My PC is behind a proxy server.
Our institution IT dept will need to allow the DMXzone Extension Manager connection. Is there any specific info that our IT dept would need?

Cheers
Dave

Hi David,

Can your IT department just allow direct web connections (regular port 80), ie without proxy authorization to www.dmxzone.com?

That will solve your problem.

Greetings,
George

Hello David,
it seems that the proxy server requires authentication, we currently do not support this.

What port does it use to update?
Everything else works in the app, except the updating.
Our IT dept will allow it thru the proxy server, but they need more info.

For the meantime, should I uninstall the DMXzone Extension Manager, so that I can use the DMXzone Updater?

Hi Teodor

Our IT dept asks the question:
"I have investigated the application and it does seem that they do not support Proxy Authentication. We should be able to add the application to bypass the proxy, but we would need to know which server it connects to in order to update. Does the application on your side perhaps give you the server name or IP address that it tries to update through?"

The server it is connecting to is: www.dmxzone.com/api/em.asp

I've just done a complete reinstall of DMXzone Extension Manager v1.0.2
but still does not work even though this is listed as one of the fixes:
"Improved support for running on local networks and behind corporate proxy environments"
Does the latest version still not support proxy authentication?
Sorry to keep on at this, but I have around 35 of your extensions, and really need this to work.

Hello David,
The latest update does not include proxy authentication support. We will try to integrate such in the upcoming update.

OK I'll uninstall it, then use the old DMXzone Updater.
Where can I download this? I can't find it on your site.

Oh no - it's going to be really time-consuming updating them all thru the Dreamweaver extension manager. Better get started!

Thanks George - our IT dept has now allowed a proxy bypass to www.dmxzone.com so no longer have to authenticate. Reinstalled the DMXzone ExtMan, now all working. I'm very happy now!

Hi David,

We have improved the DMXzone Extenion Manager even further, so it should now work even with your corporate proxy without any bypasses.

Could you please try the beta of the upcoming update that we are preparing for the DMXzone Extension Manager, to see if your problem is solved?

Download it from:

Mac version:
www.dmxzone.com/beta/DMXzone-Extension-Manager-Mac.dmg

Windows version:
www.dmxzone.com/beta/DMXzone-Extension-Manager-Win.exe

So let me know how it goes.

Greetings,
George

Hi George

The links to the beta ExtMan result in a page not found.
You may have to send me a zipped Windows version.

Thanks George

I installed the beta version (after uninstalling previous version)
Works fine, but I think I would need to advise our IT dept here to remove the proxy bypass in order to see if the new version does work without this.

Cheers
Dave
