Downloaded this template and opened it in Dreamweaver. It caused DW to 'hang'. I had to go into Control Panel to close it.

I've just downloaded it on my Windows XP Professional and opened it in DW CS5 without any troubles. Can you please provide your  OS and Dw version? This template has been downloaded over 200 times and so far we haven't received a complaint about it.

Where is index?

Hello Jan,

The "Index" file should be created using the bluemesa-home.dwt template file. In order to do this - place the template files in your site root and Click File>New>Page from template. Then just save your file.
