I have a page which uploads two files: 1) a PDF and 2) an image which needs to be resized. This wasn't working at all at first. Every time I tested it I was getting this error:

I spent 2+ hours on the phone with the highest level of support with the web host, and we tried many different things for permissions. Nothing worked. However, in further testing we figured out that uploads were actually working and what is causing this error is the Smart Image Processor extension. Apparently, the resizing of the image and saving it back to the directory it was uploaded to is where the process fails.

We checked settings in the web.config and have maxRequestLength set to 2 GB to ensure that is not the cause of the problem.

We did more testing, and finally got it to work. However, it only works when very small images are used. I ran a dozen or more tests using the same PDF file every time and varying the size of images to figure out where it stops working. I put through several tests that worked - one right after the other, using file sizes up to 15 KB. Once I increased file sizes beyond that, the permissions error noted above started showing up again, and did so every time when larger images were used. Going back down to small file sizes - it works again.

So... what has to be done to get SIP to work with files larger than around 15 KB?? This is on Windows Server 2008.

Also, the error that comes up when this happens appears to be incorrect. It doesn't seem to be a permissions issues, because if the file size for the image is small enough, everything works fine. It only fails when the size of the file to be resized is larger than about 15 KB.

I really hope you have some ideas on how to solve this problem.

Hello Steve,
There are no file-size limitations in the Smart Image Processor ... this is all controlled by the server settings and components installed on it.
Please provide a link to a test page, where we can see and try to debug this.
Also:
Please Make sure that ASP.NET does have write permissions in the folder.
Ensure the IIS_WPG user is in Security and has Modify permission.

I have sent you a private message with the link to test at your dynamiczones email address. I'm not sure the last thing you noted was checked or tested, so I will review this with the web host again this morning and test again.
