The product still seems unfinished. Could be a real good extension if it got shown more love in its development. [B)]

Brad,

Dreamweaver recordsets are very limited queries on the same page and can not be filtered runtime or used by Ajax calls.

Ajax Datagrid calls special ajax pages with own table filters, paging etc - much more sophisticated... So you are talking about different things here ...

So there is nothing unfinished about the product.

George

Hi George,

Thanks for the reply. I still fail to see why you can't have advanced recordsets in the Datagrid. You supply the exact same interface for basic recordsets as the Dreamweaver interface. So why not the advanced recordset?

As it stands there is no way to bring up only data based on more than one variable. For example I can't display only the records that have a specific URL Parameter 'AND' have dates only greater than the current date. Ajax Datagrid currently only supports one initial filter. That to me is 'unfinished' as more often than not a recordset is filtered by more than one criteria.

Yes, I am also aware that you can use 'views'. However writing views is very complex for most people as phpmyadmin is what most hosting services provide and it is terrible for views.

So again, I ask, why no advanced recordset feature in the interface similar to Dreamweaver?

It is definitely a great extension (one of the best on DMXZone) but seems very limited for using such a great technology as Ajax which is capable of so much more.
