I have been using the gallery for a while (and on the same site), and never had a problem before. My computer is Windows 7 with Dreamweaver CS3.

When I insert a blank gallery and do the images manually everything seems fine. When I try to use the editor, as I press the ok button I get two alternating errors

AppExecuteScript: EXEC_SCRIPT ERROR

and if you press Ok then

AppExecuteError

Pressing OK sends you back to the first error. If you OK it enough times, Dreamweaver closes with an error.

Any ideas?

I deleted the DMX folder (AFTER making a backup). It restored itself, but that didn't solve the problem.

When I add images through the interfaces manually it appears to be fine, just when I add through "by folder". The images are created perfectly.

I downloaded and reinstalled the extension. It kept a cache of locations etc., so there are still some files floating around.

I installed a new gallery on a different site, and the folder import worked perfectly. Therefore it's not the extension itself, but something about this instance that is corrupt.

I MIGHT have found the problem - illegal characters in the file name! I eventually found the two images causing the problems by doing it one-by-one, and one had an apostrophe and one inverted commas.

If there is still a problem, I'll add further information.

Hi Dianne,

Thank you for the deep investigation. Such problems are indeed very difficult to find, specially remote, so I'm very glad you have found the cause.

Could you tell me what the illegal characters were? Maybe send me those two photos per email - zip them and mail to

Greetings,
George

Hi George

I just had the same problem as Dianne. The culprit was an exclamation mark (!) Removing it fixed the problem

I'm having the same error when inserting Animated Thumbnail Gallery. All my images are named Image0001-Image0035. No illegal characters. I get the error whether i add by folder or individually. The only way I can get out of the error is to force Dreamweaver closed. Are there any other ideas for resolving the problem? I have it with other extensions as well.
