Sliding panels work on simulator but not on device

Hi,I'm using this within an iPad app webview but when viewed locally on the iOS simulator it works fine, but on the actual iPad device nothing happens on swipe - the first page just stays still.
Has anyone got any ideas as to why?

It's not a webpage unfortunately, it's going to be an iPad application built locally in HTML and then packaged into an app using Titanium Appcelerator.
