If I remove the ftp option, then the page is no longer able to be edited. Key combo doesn't bring up the user/pwd box.

Got it to work. I put the user/pwd option to HTTP Auth. Removed ftp option and set permissions to 666.
But I sure would like the Ajax and FTP option to work.

You can have AJAX mode working without FTP, just like you had the HTTP one.
