Hi,
I set OPE up using Dreamweaver CS5 on Vista, and tried it with Firefox 4, IE9 and Chrome without success. I followed all instructions to set up OPE, set 666 permissions to the page to be edited on-line, uploaded all and nothing happens when I press ctrl+\ . No editable region indicated, no login requested.
When I look at the source code of the file to be edited (www.canberrabushwalkingclub.org/program/index.html)it seems to be OK (similar to your demo).
I suspect that I am not oing something obvious, but cannot see what it is and would appreciate your help.

Thanks David

Hi David,

Seems the default activation key is setup, so just press ctrl+shft+2 to get the login. I just tested it and it pops up.

Greetings,
George

Thanks George,

Nit sure what was happening, but the key was supposed to be shift+\ (it still showed that in the OPE setup window in Dreamweaver). Anyway, now I can access OPE and play with it. One thing I have noticed is that you can't cut and paste in designer mode (like Dreamweaver itself) but have to cut and paste code. Is this the case, as often my edits involve using text from supplied word documents. In the past I have just pasted them into Dreamweaver and the style was applied to the text. In OPE, it seems that you already have to have the html code, which defeats the purpose of setting this up for a person who doesn't know html. The actual text that we want to edit is an accumulation of information from a number of peole so it is not practical to write it out again in OPE.

I also noticed that if I cut and paste code within a document using OPE, the formatting can be changed, e.g. "-" appeared as an "a circonflex+euro symbol"

I am hoping that I am doing somethng wrong and that cut and paste is possible with plain text?

I have actually renamed the test page www.canberrabushwalkingclub.org/program/index-ope.html so it doesn't affect site visitors. It shows the formatting errors after editing with OPE.

Thanks for your help,

David

Hi David,

Make sure your page has UTF-8 encoding. You can change that in DW in the page properties.

Greetings,
George

Thanks George,

That fixed up the formatting issues. I guess, in my case a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

David
