How does one do database page access and authentication? The old dreamweaver mysql connector (that also insert/update) had these functions built-in. How does this work with a ajax based solution? Or is it just another missing piece to purchase before the old built-in DW functionality will be replaced?

Sorry if I sound frustrated, but it's begining to feel like getting updated pdo based database support here is like buying a new car by getting the tires, then the engine, then the seats, etc. The parts are affordable individually, but by the time you get a whole car it gets quite expensive.

Will people who were early purchasers of the database connector get a deeper discount on the updater?? It only seems reasonable as the updater without updating capability is incomplete to me.

Hi Stephanie,

Good to see you on DMXzone again. I'm glad you are investigating our latest extensions for ajax database access!

We've managed to put together a set of tools that will definitely change the Dreamweaver future and open a new, all visual way to create database driven Ajax based web sites or single page apps.

We actually just started replacing all the deprecated server behaviors with all this new amazing functionality. By doing this we have gone even much further and converted all the server code to ajax services driven by client calls. So now you can do things that were never possible before!

Currently we handle the most common database options of querying and updating the database in a very rich way of corse and without the need of any SQL coning or server programming.

Next on our agenda is indeed security, which we plan to put also on a whole new level by supporting OAuth 2.0 protocol to let you do your own security for database access but also be able to integrate with other security and login providers as Facebook and Google.

We try to make extensions free as much as possible, like the HTML5 Data Bindings and the Bootstrap extension, which are the foundations of the rest, but we also have to make a living so we have to produce also commercial extensions.

However when you discover all the power that we have build in those extensions and the time that they will save you, I'm sure you will see that they are worth every penny!

Greetings,
George

George,

Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate how the new extensions are advanced far from the old ones. I and and suggest that DMXzone might consider a pricing model, in particular for these closely related extensions and the ones that will come for handling logins with database credentials and things missing from the current set.

What I am suggesting is these related functions would make a nautural suite. You might have a suite price in mind already. If so, I suggest you consider that when one is purchasing components as they are released the early adopter who buys all the parts in the suite end paying the discounted suite price. This, of course, only really makes sense when early adopters purchase extensions during the roll-out.

This "early adopter appreciation" kind of promotion would apply to those who purchased the individual extensions before the entire suite was available. This encourages early adoption without concern that one missed out on the discounted suite price = more sales sooner.

With respect to the database connector/updater - is one really complete without the other?

With respect to security - yes! It really matters and is often a concern with ajax and in partularly updating database inforamation using ajax. And as I mentioned above being able to require logins and control page access readily using credentials in a database.

Finally, I appreciate the service DMXzone has provided to the DW community for years.
Thanks,
-Stephanie
