Web Browser's native login prompt happens first, then the bootstap modal login window

has this problem

I have created a simple contact list, and followed the tutorials to protect the page using the bootstrap modal window. However, I'm getting the regular login prompt for the page from the browser itself, and then also the boostrap modal window too. This happens on first load and also if you enter an incorrect password. Here's my test page:

The correct login for the page above is:
username - admin
password - tortuga

In addition to the tutorials on setting up the security provider in the first place, I followed this tutorial:

Furthermore, I tested this page in all the latest stable versions of Google Chrome, Firefox and IE - all with the same predictable results.

The short question is - how do I get the browser prompt login to never show and only get the bootstrap modal window?

This seems to be an IIS configuration setting that shows the popup when the 401 unauthorized error appears. Please check if this fixes the server message : Under directory security tab in IIS click Edit & Enable Anonymous access option.

This site is hosted with Godaddy. I checked the settings, and it looks correct.

Is there a certain subdirectory that pertains to this setting that I need to check?

Can you please check if the basic Authentication is enabled? If yes, please disable it.

I am not sure I will be able to get this done. I didn't see a way to deal with that setting in their control panel. I have read that this is a problem with godaddy hosting - that you cannot disable basic authentication. I have submitted a support ticket asking about this so hopefully I'll know whether it can be in a day or so. I'll report my findings here.

I finally (after a week) heard back from Godaddy and they disabled basic authentication on my test account and the page protection works great now. So Teodor, you were right.

I am happy to hear you managed to solve the issue contacting your hosting company.
