I am trying to use the tool that I paid for, and it is not working at all:

redroserejuvenation.com/maps.php

getting the following error:

"This service requires an API key. For more information on authentication and Google Maps Javascript API services please see: developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key"

Others are having this problem, but they all seem to be ignored as well.

Hello Chuck,
None of the requests are being ignored. We are going to release an update, which fixes the changes, introduced by Google.

Normally DMXzone is very customer focused, and this surprises me. If you know the extension is currently not working, you should suspend sales of that extension. In addition, you should announce on the page (or send an email) that "due to changes by Google, the extension will not work" and provide an estimated delivery of an update that will work.

Google changed their API so now it requires a personal API key to be generated by the users. An update is coming in the upcoming couple ow weeks.

OK. It is a year later. Where is it? I need to install Google Maps and cannot. It does not allow me to get past the API Key entry point.

Hello Greg,
Update your extension to the latest version, using DMXzone EM and there is an API key field, where you should paste the API key.

Hello Teodor,

Thank you for replying.

I am a very small user, only managing my own websites and a few of my clients. I am not an application developer, nor am I a very knowledgeable webmaster. I have not been able to figure out how to get the API Key. When I go to the page about it, none of the options seem to apply to someone such as myself, but rather a “developer.” It would be very helpful if there was a less technical instruction for getting the API Key for a small user such as myself. Otherwise, it stops us in our tracks. Can DMXzone provide a little more information or direction in this?

Thank-you,

Greg

Hi Greg,
Just click the API KEY button in the UI ... then you will be taken to the Google API key website, where you just need to follow the instructions. No advanced technical knowledge is required.

Hi Theodor,

There are several things that may seem obvious about getting an API Key through the Google user interface to authorize using DMXzone Google Maps but are not to me. For instance:

1. Does creating a simple web page or website mean the same as “app project?”
2. Can the same API Key be used on different domains or websites, or must a new API Key be gotten for each new domain or website URL?
3. When clicking “GET A KEY” on the Google “Get API Key” UI page, it requires that we enter something for “My Project.” What should be entered here? Is it the domain, the project name for myself or for a client, my business name, my name? It gives absolutely no guidance or examples.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,
Just for your info - Google API key page has nothing really to do with DMXzone. It is google who require this key, not us.

1. Yes
2. Yes (and it is explained how to this on the goole api keys website)
3. Just enter whatever you like there.

Hi Theodor,

Thanks for the clarification. I did know that it is Google doing this. We are all having to deal with it.

I should update and clarify a few things that some others may have encountered.

On my MacPro using OS 10.11.6 and Safari version 11.0.2, I could not download the latest version of DMXzone Extension Manager (version 1.2.4). It would stop before completing each time. The version in my Applications folder was the older 1.2.1. However, I noticed that when in the Extension Manager (with DW CS6), the version noted via the upper right menu showed Version 1.2.4 - a discrepancy. I then checked the Apple App Store to see if the DMXzone Google Maps was listed. It was not. Next, I signed into DMXzone using Google Chrome instead of Safari to try downloading EM again. This time, Extension Manager 1.2.4 did download to completion, was installed, and now shows Version 1.2.4 in my Applications Folder. There seems to be some conflicting information in this scenario that adds to the confusion of what version is installed.

FYI: The Google API link posted in the Chuck Borrelli comment above returns a 404 error code.

Thanks for your attention

Greg

I don't understand what Extension Manager has to do with the Api Key. The same applies for Apple App Store - you cannot expect a Dreamweaver Extension to be listed there of course ... Just click the api key button in the Maps UI and you will be taken there.

I was actually replying to one of your earlier suggestions (in this string) for me to update the Extension Manager. I responded because I had been having a difficult time doing so, and saw that some others reported it happening as well. I sent my description of what I did to accomplish it to help others who might be looking for the solution, and to let DMXzone know as well.
