This is a nice calendar, but is only an overgrown date picker. I need an actual calendar for my events. Maybe even the events listed on the calendar could be a link to a details page?

Ive had some success replacing the date picker with a cleaner bootstrap3 one.
I agree most of the jquery UI included ones are ugly.

What I would love to see (If possible) is a tutorial on how to do something like fullcalendar.io to display server connect data.
